For those who didn't click the links, Berry says that they caught it early. While that isn't always something that works out as a "you are going to get through this", it certainly improves the odds that you can get through it. Best of luck to Mark Berry, his family and his friends.

I had the same thing . Mine was Squamous cell carcinoma on left tonsil. I know I had it over a year when it was diagnosed in December of 2008.

I was treated with aggressive chemotherapy and radiation.I have residual neuropathy, but really am ok physically now. After three years, and no cancer is supposed a success, and I feel blessed.

My recommendation would be a feeding tube for anyone with an aggressive chemotherapy diagnosis.Nutrition would have been very difficult,if not impossible for me without it.I lived on Ensure or equivalent exclusively from April to September of 2009.

I'll remember Mark in prayer.

News from last week:

BERRY UPDATE: Third base coach Mark Berry completed his treatment for cancer in the tonsils and lymph nodes about two weeks ago. Now, Berry is working on recovering from the treatment.

“I’m still pretty weak from not eating,” he said. “I’ve lost 38 pounds.”

The radiation treatment affected Berry’s taste buds and saliva production. He’s been getting by on nutritional supplements and Gatorade.

He wasn't very big to begin with.

Last time I saw him on TV he looked like a toothpick. Hope the guy can start eating again soon.
