Miller may have been sent back to Louisville, but his facial hair is going to hang out in the Reds' clubhouse for a few weeks, maybe go out for some beers after the game.

Great to see Hanigan back! Now let's hope he can get his swing back as well.

Looks like they may be able to get things in if the rain moves through fast enough.

Nope. It's strictly against Derby City Whisker Club by-laws to leave your lip warmer behind in ANY location.

With an off-day yesterday, Dusty has got a fully rested bullpen. I think he will need it because this game is bound to be at least delayed and Cingrani will not have a normal start. Having tickets tonight, I hope the Reds just postpone it because the weather will be rough either way. This is the first of nine at home vs. the Brewers so they may be more amenable to postponing this game than they would vs. a non-divisional opponent.

This is the lineup that should play against all RHP, except that Mes can get some starts.

Some might switch Paul and Cozart in the batting order, that's a quibble.

I don't understand why Dusty varies this lineup against righties with Lutz, and such. He says he likes Paul against hard throwers. I would use him against any RH thrower.

I guess I don't get the sac bunt in the first inning. And if you're doing that because you're afraid of the double play, or something else, then maybe you should find another two hole.

Really not trying to be negative, I just don't understand the strategy this early in the game.

The strategy was likely because of the rain.

Baker wanted an early lead thinking a small lead might hold up in a five inning game ended by rain.

Of course bunting in front of Votto is an invitation to an intentional walk. But here, they pitched to him and he fanned.

Gallardo is a good pitcher, but surprised to see both Votto and Bruce fan there with RISP.

Interesting....Rickie Weeks is struggling so he's been dropped to 7th in the order.

So now the Brewers have the SS hitting second.

Dusty keeps Cozart second to have L, R, L, R, L. This game the entire lineup is L, R, L, R, L, R, L, R up to the pitcher.

Anyone who continues to make excuses about our bandbox of a stadium has their head buried in the sand. No reason for Cincinnati to have what's known as a joke of a park around the country. It's actually a very-good stadium. Just a few of the dimensions are out of whack. What a complete shame. An otherwise great stadium is known as a joke in the baseball world due to some idiot deciding to put in T-ball dimensions.

Yup. It's the legacy of the Bowden/Allen era. No matter how good things get, all we have to do is look at that right center field area to be reminded of those buffoons.

I also liked the way they pitched him....but I still didn't want the walk.

I have a bugaboo about this kind of thing.

Some managers and pitching coaches seem to be so afraid of walks that pitchers give in to hitters when they fall behind.

I've seen some pitchers have better years when they allow some walks. Worse years when the walks stop.

Nobody wants walks but in a spot like that with the powerful Weeks, even having a bad year, I want the pitcher to avoid the long ball and make Weeks swing at a bad one. If not, he walks, life goes on.

Problem here is Dusty doesn't use Marshall much against right handed lineups. So even if Simon goes two innings, it leaves the seventh up for grabs.

Could be Hoover. Could be Ondrusek. Could be Lecure.
