Left-handed pitcher Matt Boyd from Oregon State -- who the Reds drafted in the 13th round last year and did not sign -- was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 6th round this year, ICYMI:

Sure being picked seven rounds earlier looks a lot better. However, the new format of the draft has really changed the way teams pick guys. As we have seen this year and last year, a lot of college seniors go in the back end up the top 10 rounds because they are very signable and will sign below slot because they can't go back to school or go to college like high school guys. Therefore, there is a solid chance that he hasn't changed scouts perceptions measurably, rather he could have been picked higher just because the Jays knew they could sign him below slot there and allocate more money of their bonus pool to a guy with more options.
