National Lampoon's Vacation, Ghostbusters, Caddyshack, Groundhog Day...that's an unbelievable run.

Kind of a shocker, I had no idea he had been battling an illness.

Hardly his best known work, but I watched "Knocked Up" again recently, and the scene where he tells his son (Seth Rogen) that he's the best thing that ever happened to him chokes me up every time. Just a very sweet moment in that movie that kind of reminds me of my dad.

Very sorry to read of his passing.

I love that scene too and it is one of the scenes that elevates the movie from just another stoner/slacker comedy to something special for me.

He's responsible for more quoted sayings that I use on a daily basis more than anyone. Animal House. Groundhog day. Ghostbusters. He was a HUGE part of my childhood. Just a sad day. RIP. :(

"Could I have 10,000 marbles please?"
"Was it over when the Germans bombed pearl harbor?"
"The &*%#$ is TOAST!"
"IT'S IN THE HOLE!"
"Cats and dogs living together...MASS HYSTERIA!"

*sigh*

Groundhog Day is one of my ten most favorite films, a movie that was terrific on so many levels. RIP.

Great bit from the Hollywood Reporter with some very great quotes: almost universally, everyone referred to him as "kind" along with his great comedic skills

I understand he and Bill Murray had been estranged for many years but recently they had a rapprochement. Sad that it took Ramis's illness to bring them back together. Not to diminish Murray's talent and acting skills but you could certainly make an argument that Ramis's scripts did as much to make Murray a big star as Murray's acting helped make the movies they made together comedy classics and Ramis a first rate director.

A small memorial to the beloved actor/director/writer/comedian Harold Ramis has been placed at the 8th Hook and Ladder firehouse in TriBeCa. Candles, flowers, and a package of Twinkies were laid out in front of the firehouse to commemorate Ramis' iconic role as Dr. Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters, which was filmed there.

One of the most underrated movies of our generation. It's a true classic, full of heart, humor and so very, very smart.

Finding out movies he was involved in that I previously wasn't aware of. Found out today that he directed Ice Harvest. I love that movie, I've seen it probably ten times and never paid attention to who directed it.

Another role similar to the one in Knocked Up was his small part in Orange County. That movie is mostly forgettable but Ramis' part made me laugh.
