Corky Miller All-Stars
Corky Miller has been in professional baseball since 1998.

If he could put a team together of all of the major leaguers he has played with both at the major league level, and the minor league level--here would be that team. [Even on his OWN all-star team, Corky's a back-up!]

Votto doesn't get the nod over Thome?

No, Votto does not get the nod over Thome.

To me, it's not even close.
Votto has only played seven years, Thome performed for over 20 years.

Career numbers-wise... Thome's 612 Home runs ranks 7th all-time. 1699 RBI-ranks 24th all-time.

Jim Thome should be first ballot Cooperstown Hall of Fame.
As of today....
Joey Votto should be first ballot Reds Hall of Fame.

I like that stats, but it is two different eras of baseball. IMO players should always be judged among their peers. I think that would give Votto the advantage.

While Votto has been a star caliber player every season it is hard to argue against Thome, who was a great slugger who also walked a lot, and was a strong defensive player at first. Give Joey five more years at his career levels or better and I think he over takes Thome but right now I would agree with Don Votto.
