View Full Version : Sean Marshall already injured again

This is getting ridiculous. Just cut the guy, he's proven worthless. Another hilarious Walt Jocketty contract...Ludwick, Marshall, Phillips, Votto, Skip, Hannahan, Parra, Bronxton, Homer, Santiago.

I think he gave sean a 15 million dollar extension. Aside from Walts deals that buyout arbitration years, name a contract that has been good?

So much wasted money from Walt.

Was there one bit of an injury history or concern with the guy when the contract was signed? Nope. He was actually one of the best relievers in the game. Crap happens.

Marshall and Ludwick were both good deals. There were unforseeable injuries. Broxton produced well while here and that contract was dumped. Hannahan was supposed to be Fraziers defensive replacement. Remember the questions about his glove after 2012. Hannahan was hurt unbeknownst to anyone at the time. Skip is good at getting on base. Something the Reds needed at the time of the signing off the bench. It's easy to bash in hindsight. Next time you see a contract you don't like, declare it at the time and why, (with something other than jocketty sucks) and it'll be worth discussing.

What was wrong with the Santiago contract?

So...none of them.

Not so much. Each contract had its purpose at the time it was offered. You can't judge Jocketty, or any GM, because of a contracts results that were not reasonably foreseeable. But please continue complaining. It's entertaining. I'm wondering if you're the same Ron that does that on blogredmachine too.

Is Dean the little brother of Sean or just his evil twin?

That means the last good FA contract that Walt handled was in 2011

The contract that was panned the most at the time was Broxton. Oddly enough he probably did the best. Let's not forget Walt brought in Ludwick prior to 2012 as well

The reds have the longest drought of post season advancement in baseball

No. You told me to name one good contract, so I did.
You didn't say "the last good FA contact".
Parra's contract in 2013 was a good one.
The jury is still out on the extension, but if he has a decent 2105, that could be a good one as well.

What free agents have the Reds signed since Parra?
Santiago last year.. good
Schumaker.. injured.
Pena.. excellent
Maybe I missed one or two, but that's all I can think of.

Not that this matters, you are just trolling.

Still, paying Broxton 9 million this year would have been a disaster.

Maybe that's why Walt dumped the contract. If Chapman went into the rotation as per the plan when Broxton was signed, no big deal. But Walt moved the guy without having to eat any money. So he got the plsyer for the period he wanted him and dumped him when he was no longer affordable.

Yeah, I liked the move to dump him.

As for him being worth it at 9M if Chapman was in the rotation, let's see how he does this year. I think its possible/likely that his ERA will be over 4.

Could be, but he'll be missing the Reds defense behind him.

Just wanted to mention that, contrary to the thread title, Marshall is not "injured again". Here's his quote:

Two weeks ago, I was doing three sets of long-tossing from 120 feet, feeling pretty good. But I kind of had a little soreness in my shoulder. I got out here (to Arizona) Feb. 6. I had to slow down a bit. I'm not on the mound yet.

Yeah, I didn't get injured from that at all either. Sounds about normal for a shoulder recovery.
