Straily strikes out Span swinging to start our game.
Straily with first pitch balls to the first two batters but comes back to retire both. 2 down 25 more to go.
Straily k's Pence to end the inning

1-2-3 inning with 2 K's for Straily. 14 pitches.

1-2-3 inning with 2 K's for Straily. 14 pitches.
Straily has been a tremendous pick up this season.
Cozart trying to extend his consecutive Walk Streak to two straigh games comes up short in his first at bat by striking out on a pitch only Flavafraz could love.
Tyler Don't Call Me Brock Holt grounds out for the 2nd out.
Peavy gets Votto to fly out to end the first. Both SP's with 14 pitches and 9 strikes in 1-2-3 first.
Tom Servo
05-04-2016, 12:49 PM
Votto flies out deep to the wall in left. The previous pitch he nearly lined an inside pitch down the line for a double, just foul. Good swings.
Today is my daughter's 18th birthday. The Reds owe her a win.
Little warmer out and that ball would have been a homer for Votto

A Votto double! Only his 2nd of the year
androosh
05-04-2016, 01:25 PM
Votto with a double that was almost a HR. Both at bats he's hit the wall (well, the first would have hit halfway up if it hadn't been caught).

DatDude singles up the middle, Votto stopped at third. At the corners with no outs for Bruce.

Duvall boinks one off Belt's glove. 2 on, 2 out for Cabrera.
Duval reaches on error, 1st and 2nd
Inning still alive. Error.

I just looked at Suarez's stats, I had no idea that like Votto he only had one double going into today. He still has just one, but 6 home runs and a triple to go with it.

Reds actually get Brandon Belt out to start the 4th.

Yeah with all the Reds hitting they should play station to station ball.
Straily so far keeping his pitch count low.

Agree it was an odd time to be aggressive, what with they way they've hammered Peavy. But this offense needs to be aggressive and creative in order to have any hope of scoring runs consistently.

If we got a good return, with actual HITTERS, I wouldn't cry about it. This team is going to flounder this season and the next. May as well sell high. Bring Peraza up and let him sink or swim at SS.

Agreed. Doubt we'd get any hitters near MLB ready for him though. MLB ready bullpen help would be likely IMO though.

I'd rather we keep Cozart and slowly move Phillips to a reserve role. Age is an issue but also Peraza is more suited to 2b anyway.

Phillips is gone after next year. Cozart I'm sure is gonna want a 4-5 year deal. Is that something the Reds should do at this stage? Debatable, but I don't see them doing it.
I'm guessing at 95 pitches Straily is done.
This will be a tough loss to take for the Reds.

Those have gotta feel good for Duvall.
Strailey coming out for the 7th at 95 pitches.
Zero confidence in the bullpen, and a helluva shot across their bow by Price.
I approve. In the short run, might actually cost them the game. In the long run, if followed up with a few transactions, could be the best thing to happen to the Reds this year.
4 Reds with homers today. 4 Braves with homers this year and one of those has been DFA'd.

Any long term deal for any player over 30 on a rebuilding team is going to defeat the purpose. A trade for bullpen help (Mike Wright from the Orioles while Hardy recovers?) seems best. Get a A-ball MI lottery ticket to go with it and I'm in.
