Amazing ceremony by the Reds and great speech from Pete.

Terrible strike three call on Bruce. This has been the worst umpiring crew I've ever seen.

When they do instructional videos on how a catcher should throw out a runner at second, that should be the play they use. That was perfection. Love it.

Only the Reds could have a player claimed off waivers during a game when everyone thought he was still on the roster

DeSclafani is still hitting 95 mph in the 8th inning.

The Reds W-L record would look a lot better if DeSclafani had been able to pitch all season.

DeSclafani: 8 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K.

13 consecutive scoreless innings.

Not sure he needs to be throwing 117 pitches so early in his return (and with the season already in the tank), but he's looked like a future all star in 2016.

2 pages without your boy (who had a lunch date with a cute Venezuelan girl) when Disco throws 8 scoreless innings? C'mon Redszone!

Year low for posts in the game thread. Guess that's to be expected in an awful season. Sounded like Disco pitched a very good game. He is some hope for the future. I just hope the Reds don't decide t trade him for some of those magic beans. I wish I could have seen Pete's speech. He deserved to have his number officially retired. I don't think anyone had worn it since he managed his last game in Cincy.

Just got home from the game! It was a great experience, handled with class on the Reds end, and with humility on Pete's end.

Did anyone else notice immediately after Cingrani got that last out and the Reds players were coming onto the field to greet one another, that Homer Bailey was very animated in congratulating Disco for a job well done. That, to me, shows an enormous maturity and growth into that veteran leadership role of the rotation.
