Hey Chip, how fast did creek drive when she took you for a test drive in her sister's new vette?
She was a total wuss. She only took it up to 80. I kept telling her to let it out but she was scared she'd get a speeding ticket. Of course it got up to 80 really fast. Cornered like a dream too. It was a sweet ride. Almost as sweet as the Idiotmobile. ;)

Nothing can top the Idiotmobile! ;) Man, only 80? That's an insult to a car like that. I mean, if she got a ticket, all she would have to do was get CQ to pull some strings. ;)

About 95% of Adam Sandlers stuff doesn't do much for me. But he has had his moments. But that's true with most comics with me. It takes a lot to get me to laugh. Somehng has to be genuinely funny on more than one level to get a rise out of me. Most times, I can't really figure out why peoplle think something is funny. But then, I'm a tough audience.

TC, I've read some of your comments in here about men and they seem distinctly hetero. Lust resides between the lines.

Mrs. Tucker and I took my sister, husband, and son out to dinner tonight (Polo Grill, nice place). We just had a great time. Great food, great drink, and great company. Even though we've been geographically separated the last 20 years or so, my sister and I remain close and it takes about 2 minutes of us being together for everything to click like we've never been apart. Just had a ball.

My brother's ex-wife's daughter is getting married tomorrow and we've been invited to the wedding. One of those kind of modern day social situations you're just not sure how to handle. So when in doubt, just go and do the Roy thing (have a couple drinks, tell a couple jokes, shake a few hands, find the pretty girls to dance with) and it all turns out.

I was hoping against hope they would show Iowa State and Mizzou on the local ABC affiliate but they are showing Va Tech and Virgina instead. Funny that the other game is the Cuse and BC. I'd have bet money they would have shown that game here since UC is going Big East next year and there are so many Syracuse alums here.

Only one dumb thing I'm missing on this holiday. A piece of pumpkin pie. I bought apple, because I could buy it by the slice ....... not the same. I'm all about the pumpkin, Baybeh!

That must be a Yankee thing. My bro-in-law who was born in Ohio loves pumpkin pie, and so we had one even though he is the only one who eats it. This year we missed out on pecan for Thanksgiving so we could have pumpkin, and had to throw the whole pie away after he had his one slice.

Pecan pie is my favorite pie for TG and Christmas. That's about the only times I have it, though.

I think I actually saw a flake or two right here in Cincy this morning. It's beginning to look a little teensy, weensy bit like Christmas.

Today could reach upper seventies. Supposed to be like that all week, until next weelend.

I've only been able to wear a sweatshirt once this fall. (actially, I could have the last two days, but it was so hot inside the house, with all the people and the oven, etc, that I chose not too.)

Sailboats were out in force on the lake yesterday.

Back from the mall... Don't even bother going to the Dayton Mall, folks, cause I BOUGHT IT ALL OUT. :MandJ: Just kidding, but geez, I went way overboard again, as usual, for my friends, plus I bought quite a few things for myself. Never go to the mall when you're overly emotional... Just a word of advice!! ;)

I decided on Caffe Anticoli for dinner... I adore that place, plus it's close by my house (and they have good gelato for dessert :)).

If you wouldn't mind, please say a prayer for my sister and my family. Today is so tough on us, especially my parents... At 6:14 pm, she will be gone for four years exactly... That's so weird, since one minute it seems like she died four days ago, then the next minute, it seems like four decades.

My stepdad gave me a card this morning that said "Time heals, but love endures." I thought that was kind of neat... Interesting to keep in mind, anyway.

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend!!

Some of my favs, include the new H3, the Nissan Titan(I am so buying one in the next six months) several Mercedes Benz coupes, the Dodge Magnum and the Chrysler 300, all cars that look like nothing else on the road.

Here's a 300, and a Mercedes C55 with the AMG package. If I only had 60k, I would have drove that C55 off the lot. Oh, so many toys on that beast.

Ahh, the sweet sweet thrill of beating your rivals. Made all the better by the fact that my boys were having a down year, and our rivals were having a great year.

That was cool. You, know I had to work yesterday, and it was afterwork work-out day. Being this early in the work-out routine, I didn't want to skip or postpone, so I went anyway. Hit the elliptical after my weights during the time out when it was fourth and ten for the Sun Devils late in the fourth quarter. Just looked up to the tv screen on the machine, and there it was. Made me smile.

It's especially great when the football 'Cats beat the Sun Devils.

That reminds me ... reading to the twins at bedtime was my task this past week. 5 books, sometimes one of them twice. Last was Tumble Bumble.

Tumble Bumple up the stairs!
They open doors and check for bears.
In one room, they found a bed.
"I'm really tired" the Crocodile said.

She stretched out beside her friend the bee.
The toad hopped in which made them three.
Then came the cat, yawning big.
Next one was the baby pig.
Then came the bug and last the mouse.
All tucked together in someone's house.

So, this is how the bug's walk ends
With eight (a spider hops down from the ceiling)
No NINE (a bear climbs in the window)
No, TEN new friends (as the boy comes home, with a baseball glove on.)

HOORAY!

That's a cute story. Is that the story that the twins cry near the end?

That's only the last part. It starts

A tiny bug went for a walk.
He met a cat and stopped to talk.
And as they talked they strolled a while
And bumped into a crocodile.
The crocodile, grinning wide with glee,
she introduced her friend the bee ...

or something like that.

They cry at the end of every story. Until you start the next one. Can't say "THE END" because one of the will have a fit.

Still, it works.

Another one we read was MR BROWN CAN MOO, CAN YOU?

Oh, the wonderful sounds MR BROWN can do,
He can sound like a cow, he can go MOO MOO

Mr Brown can do it,
How 'bout you?

BOOM BOOM BOOM
Mr Brown makes thunder.

He makes lightning
SPLAT SPLAT SPLAT
and it's very, very hard
to make a sound like that.

Mr Brown can whisper whisper
very soft, very high.
Like the soft, soft whisper
of a butterfly.

Oh, the wonderful sounds Mr Brown can do
I bet you can do them too.

Not too be nosey, SB, but...

Since we tell each other way too much here anyway, are things not good with the stepsiblings?

Ehh, they don't really like me all that much. My stepbrother is usually fine enough, nice but not exactly friendly, but then he's married and has a son to keep him busy. My stepsister was always used to being the baby and princess of the family... Then her father married my mom, started calling ME "Princess," buying me gifts, and paying attention to me. I think she's kind of jealous about that, especially since my stepdad and I get along rather well now. She and I have immensely different personalities, so it's tough to even have a conversation with her, even when she's attempting to be nice, which isn't always the case.

During these get-togethers, I usually pass the time by playing with my step-nephew. He's three, and I'm trying to get him interested in sports, since all his dad does is teach him about cars, trucks, and tractors. It's not working so far, but I'm not giving up... I'll make a Reds fan out of him yet!! :)

Me either. Well, I'll send a few occasionally, but only to folks I rarely see. The cost of the cards and the postage is too much.

I am sending a few this year. My grand-aunt told me she heard from a distant cousin of mine who said she used to hear from me from time to time, and hadn't in years. Her daughter was born the day before I was, and my great-grandparents had us writing letters to each other when we were kids.

I have her address, and will send her a card this year.

Also, I'm sending one to my aunt who lives in Chicago. She never writes, she's getting close to ninety and doesn't see very well. But, she likes to hear from us, so I write occasionally.

So the gifts for my college friends are wrapped and ready to head up to Cleveland (gifts for family and friends from home will be taken care of once finals are over). Now it's time to work on the Christmas cards... Yikes!!

Good thing this stupid Bulls-Cavs game is almost over... I can't take much more of my dear Kirk Hinrich's team being obliterated. After it ends, I'll have to put on some of my Christmas music!! :D

The Christmas music and show that starts to get me in the mood is the Grinch. Love it. (I think it's because it's my Mom's favorite. The one Christmas thing we did together.)

Things that you really need to forget: in college we had to drink everytime they said "who". Um .... let's just say, it isn't possible.

Sometimes, I really feel like Scrooge or something when it comes to the holidays. Personally, I feel they are way overblown. I hate shopping, I hate wrapping, I hate the obligatory work related stuff. I want to give nice gifts, but I can't. Sometimes, I find something I want to give a friend, but I don't want that friend to think I expect something back. I don't. So mostly, I just get frustrated.

Every year, I say I'm going to keep it simple. To me, it's more about time spent with friends and family that it is about gifts, cards and decorations. But I never feel like I do enough.

I often feel the same way Sandy. It's so overwhelming, and eventually it all seems to go against what Christmas should be about. Most of my friends and I have a "no gift" agreement this year, which is wonderful. Instead of gifts, we're going out for drinks. :gac:

With that said, if anyone wants to get me a gift, I'll take these (http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=3853441&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1415965&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=41385&bmUID=1101611832870&DCLKSLOT=8) please! ;)

We've simplified each year. Part of that is my doing, I think.

My family either had to work or had other "obligations" on Christmas day. We didn't have traditional dinner but would have hors de ouerves and shrimp, stuff like that.

The Teamsters would make the whole turkey or ham dinner on Christmas day. It was exhausting to open gifts, make all the phone calls and then try to put a huge dinner together when you really just wanted to play with new toys.

Now we have a nice Christmas EVE dinner and leftovers for Christmas day. It really takes a load off. Now we can totally relax. We open gifts slowly, one person at a time, take breaks, build a fire, make coffee/ a good breakfast/ bloody marys, make NY phone calls, put toys together, play games. It literally takes us the whole day to open gifts .... but we enjoy each one. We enjoy the whole day. (Really nice for me to NOT have to travel anymore ....did it my whole life and HATED it. Christmas was meant to be spent in a warm fuzzy bathrobe.)

With all the hustle and bustle of shopping, wrapping and decorating, it's nice to take a step back to actually enjoy the day.

Nah, they're not very tall. They go about halfway up my calf. I also got some cute black pants, but that pair is not the kind I coveted. I saw some perfect black pants at Express, but they, like my boots, were $60. I found the pair that I bought at Old Navy; they were nice and only $40. In addition to this, I bought a white tank top at Old Navy, and three pink shirts at Charlotte Russe. That's the damage that I did FOR MYSELF... So I'm about to cook a very late dinner this evening. Been a busy day, hectic as could be. Sat down to watch some TV and noticed my stomach was rumbling because I hadn't eaten since breakfast. Going to make a little Tortillini Caesar Salad.

Went to this little place in Vegas that served those, cooked tortillinis in a caesar salad and became hooked on it. Now I have it all the time. Odd thing to be hooked on if you ask me.

So I've had some life upheaval stuff lately going on, I know I haven't shared much of it here, or anywhere for that matter. This last month my girlfriend of three years moved out. We've been staying together for almost a year, and she's gone back to the folks. We've kinda pawned it off as making it easier to go to classes, I live in the far reaches of the suburbs and her folks live just a few miles from the university, but I know, well, we both know it's something different. This is still a woman I deeply love and don't plan any other future in my life that doesn't revolve around her. But it's a bump, and a big one that we have to battle to overcome. Considering that since day one we've been a twosome that rarely fights or argues, just both too laid back for that. Whenever a problem arises we've been able to fix it and move on. But not this time. The combined weight of increasing disapproval from family for the status quo, her friends having babies and my friends getting married, forcing us to answer the uncomfortable questions that we dont' have the same answers to from family and friends.

This happen to coincide with my younger brother and one of his roommates, who were planning on starting a new lease in a new rental house, when one of the roommates skipped out of town, stealing a bunch of their stuff, leaving them with the clean up, having to pay his share of the last month in rent, and short handed a roommate. So here is me, with a mostly empty 3 bedroom house, with a soft spot for my little brother, said sure, come on and move in. They are both poor as can be college students, so I'm not worried about the monetary part of it, but its just interesting in a good way to have roommates once again, after just living along or with the better half for the last five years.

I'm one that always embraces changes, thinking that it's just a part of life and we all need to just roll with the punches and keep positive. Just sometimes changes are a tad overwhelming, even for me. I've always felt that the low points in life are there to remind you of how good you have it during the high points, just have to fight thru it. And by no means do I have it really bad. There are people in this world who have life 100 times worse than I could imagine, so I feel sorry for even moping about it, knowing that.

Apologies for just dumping this out, feels a little theraputic to just send this out into the cosmic void that is the net and get it off my chest for anyone to read or not read. My parents took my three dogs do the cabin for the weekend to play in the snow, so it's just me bumming on the couch. Thanks for reading all of this, if you managed to get down this far :)

jmcclain: Sorry to hear about your troubles. :(

I don't really think I have much to offer in the way of advice. Just try to remember that what your friends and family want for you is not necessarily what you need. (Says the single 28-year-old girl who is consistantly asked by family and friends if she has a boyfriend "yet," and when she answers no, has to try and explain "why.")

You seem to have a pretty positive outlook, which is good. I'm sure having your girlfriend move out has been a huge change, and a troubling one at that. I'm a big believer in "if it's meant to be ..." So maybe this is the time you find out if it's meant to be?

Anyway, I hope things work out for you.

Unassisted, thanks for the advice on the Mac. I got the thing for free at this ad agency I used to work at for having my X-Mas party dish I made judged one of the three best. I dug the little thing and got a lot of use out of it but I guess it's no good to me now. :( Oh well, I should just put it in my storage closet since it's time to put my X-mas "tree" where the Mac usually sits. JM, sorry you're going through a tough time. But it's far better to know for sure before you start tying knots and bringing children into the world. Only you two will know if and when you're ready for that, not your family and friends.

It takes maturity to do the right thing, especially when it brings pain. You have to follow your own heart, not the expectations of others.

Hello, Rosie. So why wasn't it a good night at work last night?

Hi Chip! I'm not sure why ... just in general, we had a lot of problems, especially relating to the pagination program we use. The program quit on me three times, with absolutely no warning, causing me to lose work. Then I couldn't get one of my pages to send, and we were right on deadline, so the page was probably late. (I hate missing deadline.) Then we had some issues with some preps stuff, which was also my responsibility last night.

Maybe other people had an okay night at work, but I sure didn't! :)

Tonight should be better ... I'm doing NFL pages, and I've got those down to a science.

I'm on the 19th floor of an office building downtown, and I can hear music from a bar that is a block away. No joke. A few minutes ago they were playing Weezer's "Say it Ain't So."

My flight this morning was very bumpy. Bad weather in the NY area. But I made it through.

Just got back from PBS... Man, what an awesome game... aside from basketball, that was the most points I have ever seen scored in a sporting event. too bad our defense blows. :( Other than that, The Trojan Man(Carson Palmer) looks like he is finally stepping into his own, if you ignore the 3 INT's :)

Off to the Muse concert now. Should be awesome. I will give a full report, if I dont pass out as soon as a get home, Im running on 2 hours of sleep since friday night!!! :MandJ:

Glad you made it home safely! And that you got through the bumpy flight. :)

I'm feeling like a brave woman right now. I'm eating pasta with marinara sauce ... with a white shirt on! Surely I'll drop something on it.

(And the pasta is some kind of soy protein pasta. Interesting. Not bad though.)

Cbus, that is quite a game you saw. Had you been to PBS before?

Glad you made it home, LGJ. I knew you'd make it through your flights. :)

I think they were due in Feb. That's way early. Hope all is okay. I hate when babies are sick. :(

I read early January, and that they are doing fine. Their weights and such were not released, though, so hopefully they aren't hiding something.

Not that we are entitled to know these things and all, but still. Why did they have to say that their weights were not released?

lgj, glad you made it home safely.

and others who have been travelling.

jm, good to keep busy. Relationships are tough, and though I'm not a big believer in "meant to be" and all, I am a big believer in "making it work" if you both really want it to. All you can do is give it your best shot and see where things fall. No matter how it works out, you'll learn something you can carry forward.

Home improvement is a great way to burn that extra energy.

And as Rosie said, you will have to keep us posted.

This week is going to be pretty stressful for me. Second full week of my new workout routine, life-changing doctor's appt Wed morning, hopefully life-changing interview/ testing Thursday morning.

I feel like I'm going to blow the whole thing over the typing test. Depends how they give it. And how long I have to type.

Josh, hang in there. As others have said, what's meant to be is what's meant to be. You just have to work through things and see what happens.

dinner was Reginelli's pizza, which is very good. They put pepper in their crust ... white pepper, I think. Kind of lingers on your lips.
