As per the new rules of the Award, the question will be slanted towards your particular area of knowlege, making you the favorite to repeat. Since I've been doing that we haven't had any repeat winners, so maybe I'm not that good at guessing what people's areas of expertise are, making it even for all, and not an advantage for the previous days winner. We'll see.

Puffy knows a lot about the early 80s west coast punk scene. I hear him talking about it all the time. If you gave him an Angry Samoans or Circle Jerks question, I bet he'd nail it like a ten-dolla :censored: .

Some of the arguments being put forth in the Rather thread remind me of the whole debacle the Enquirer had with Chiquita a few years back. (The one that cost the Enquirer a cool $10M.) I know the reporter acquired the information through illegal and unethical means, but it always gets me that the paper apologized for the whole story and had to sweep it under the rug.

Just because he wrongly acquired the info doesn't make it any less true.

I'd really really really love to just jump into that Rather thread and delete it without warning. Just to imagine the looks on the faces of various vitriolic partisans when they log back into "The Zone," pulses racing and neck-tendons bulging, ready to lay their (non)intellectual 'smackdown' on those sissy liberals/war-mongering conservatives, only to find their battleground du jour taken from them like a father takes away a Barbie Playhouse his two daughters can't stop pulling each others' hair over.

And then I realize that I need to quit daydreaming and get back to work.

So says the guy who eats candy for breakfast............ back in the day. I went to UC and had another class at Raymond Walters, after my morning class i would head off to RW for my late morning class.

But first I would stop at King Kwick and get a Pepsi (I drank pepsi then, 16 oz bottles) and 2 Hot Pickled Sausages.... that would be my breakfast, which I would follow up with a cigarette.

Well King Kwick is gone, I don't drink pepsi, I don't eat snouts and entrails and I quit smoking 16 years ago.

What's up with what's going down
In every city, in every town
Cramping styles is the plan
They've got us in the palm of every hand

When we pretend that we're dead
When we pretend that we're dead
They can't hear a word we've said
When we pretend that we're dead

Turn the tables with our unity
They neither moral nor majority
Wake up and smell the coffee
Or just say no to individuality

When we pretend that we're dead
When we pretend that we're dead
They can't hear a word we've said
When we pretend that we're dead

Come on, come on, come on come on

When we pretend that we're dead
When we pretend that we're dead
They can't hear a word we've said
When we pretend that we're dead

You know what else is a great band? The Aquabats.

The wind blows and I see dust
A cloud of white upon the horizon
My pallet knows, this is a bust
Breakfast is wrecked
For the chidren of the nation
These cheerios, soggy and tainted
Have gone to waste in
This milk of devastation.

Taste is based
From the bones of zombies
The dust is ground
It's not safe to eat or drink
When powdered milk's around!

Call in the troops
Cause here's a scoop
For you and your group
There's a drink around town
And it tastes like poop
The man in the tin suit
Bearing bitter fruit
Breakfast cereal turns to soup
Tastes like puke

Oh no!
It's the Powdered Milk Man
Oh no!
Holding the Powdered Milk can
The super villain comes a creepin'
When you're sleepin'
And must be stopped anyway we can

(chorus)
You stand before me I will defeat you
You will not break me I will not take you
You're just another unearthy poison
Someone will stop you
You and your kind, step back!

Whoa ho ho ho Powdered Milk Man
Whoa ho ho you must die!
Whoa ho ho ho, Powdered Milk Man
Whoa ho ho ho whoa!

(chorus)

Whoa ho ho ho Powdered Milk Man
Whoa ho ho ho you must die!
Whoa ho ho ho Powdered Milk Man
Whoa ho ho ho you must die!

TCII has been known in the past to not always be correct with his info. He's no longer the "insider" he once claimed to be. Of course, from what you have told me, Fay's not exactly what you would call an investigative journalist.

Most of you weren't around here a couple of years ago - creek and of course WOY was - but TCII and Stormy were going on about some alleged trade that was supposed to happen and it never did. WOY got out his Photoshop and created one of my favorite pics.

Try this: Pinch the place just above and outside the bridge of your nose where your eyebrows end (assuming you have normal eyebrows). Actually, it's not exactly a pinching motion as it is just putting a lot of pressure on those spots on either side of your nose. Do it for about 10 seconds, and then let go. See if that helps.

Really, I'm serious. This is what I do when I have headaches and no access to aspirin. It usually helps.

Yep, tried drinking a pepsi early this morning, and then a mountain dew (if that doesn't do it nothing will). Still there. I tried the pinching around the nose deal, and that helped a little. I'll keep trying that. Sleep, unfortunately isn't an option, even if I left and went home. My wife usually comes home from work at 4pm with both kids = no naps.

I had the same problem. Finally got my bank to give me a credit card with a 22.99% interest rate. Had that for 10 months and paid it off in full each month. They lowered my rate to 4.99%. I wish I had a nickel for every credit card offer I get in the mail. We've got 2 of them, one for gas and one just "in case". "In case" only gets used in "in case of emergency break glass" events. Like stuck on the road, need a hotel room, no cash, etc. It gets paid off at the end of the month. We racked up some credit card debt a ways back but I soon learned the folly of all that, payed it off, and made a blood vow to not use it.

And people sure are eager to loan me money. I love getting those mailings where its a check for $57,000 and all you have to do is sign it and cash it (oh, and pay it back at 18% interest). When going through the mail, I hold it up to the spousal unit and say "hey babe, let's you and me go have a *good* time somewhere".

At the time (1925) they were called the New York Football Giants because the baseball New York Giants were still around, and also played at the Polo Grounds.

Red Leader
09-23-2004, 04:09 PM
I normally don't do this, and there will be no award given for this, but here was the alternate Puffy question for today, or tomorrow's question, should Puffy have repeated:

In one of the earliest episodes of South Park, “Volcano,” the kids go hunting with Uncle Jimbo and Cartman tells the story of a Scuzzlebutt.

Cartman tells the rest of the kids that Scuzzlebutt kills anything that tries to climb the mountain to add pieces to his deformed body, among them are his left hand which is now a piece of celery, and one of his legs which is now Patrick Duffy.

What does Cartman say that you can hear Scuzzelbutt doing on quiet nights?

I would also like to say that if you need to get jazzed about doing something real quick (like going through a day's worth of mail in the last twenty minutes of your workday), there's no better song to bump real loud on your office stereo than "Lipstick Vogue" by Elvis Costello.

I am NEVER compulsive. Ask TB and TM.

I'm taking off for Lake Cumberland for the weekend. Behave all.

I can't believe I'm doing this. I told my boss that I was taking tomorrow off at the last minute. I tossed in a couple T shirts and shorts. Stopping for beer and heading out.

Have a good one all.

You too!

I have no idea what the answer to your question is, RL. South Park is not my forte.

At the time (1925) they were called the New York Football Giants because the baseball New York Giants were still around, and also played at the Polo Grounds.
Well, I realize that but there's no need to call them that anymore. There used to be a NY Yankees football team but the baseball Yankees don't go around calling themselves the New York Baseball Yankees.

Well, you could go to my house in Dayton, knock on the door, and say, "Hi, my name is Red Leader, and Super_Barry11 said I could use the couch in her basement to take a nap!"

But, I'm not sure exactly how well that would go over...

Haven't checked the MLB scoreboard today...did the A's (Dotel) lose? I had so much hope for him coming into the season. His K rate suggested that he would be a hell of a closer, but he's been borderline this whole year...big disappointment. I can't remember the last time Billy Beane has had a closer under contract for the following year, I wonder if he'll stick around, or if the A's will have their 5th different closer in 5 years.

Yeah, I tee them up, you two hit 'em out.

This thread has the potential to be the greatest juggernaught the 'Zone has ever seen.

Unlike those uppity threads where you actually have to know words or songs and stuff, here you don't need to know diddly.

This appeal transcends all interest groups. The "don't know diddly" demographic is strong, and growing stronger with each passing brain cell.

I dare say that the "DKD" demo outnumbers that bunch of smarty pants that rule those dictionary readin', song listenin', "teacher, you forgot to assign homework" sayin' bunch of 'zoners by far.

The thread about nothing will rule the Zone for years to come. If there's one thing we have in abundance, it's a bunch of posters who don't know diddly and are proud of it!!!

Random post from page 23 of this thread (because today is the 23rd!) - and those words are as true today and the day we hit the 23rd page of this thread!

Good work RFS62, good words indeed!
