Hey SuperBarry,

I'm a little late, but please know how sorry I am to hear of the passing of your grandfather. I lost mine a little over three years ago (to lung cancer) and not a day goes by that I don't miss him. I know how hard it has been for me, but I truly can't imagine having to endure all of the losses that you've had to in so few years. Hang in there.

Small domestic car, easy..should be a little panel inside the trunk that you can pull off and replace the bulb

There isn't. There is a nut there, but the hole doesn't look big enough for the bulb to fit in. Oh well, I need an oil change. I think I'll have him show me. I really like the place where I go.

Hey Puffmiester!!

Good job with the poker. Take al their money.

I've got three hard days of writing up reports from this last 10 day sweep through Georgia. Man, I miss those mosquitos. I have a theory now, that they must have been near some kind of radiation, since they were so hella big and nasty.

And the fire ants. They had to be mutants.

I think we should seal off South Georgia for a few hundred years, just to make sure.

And the gnats...... did I mention the gnats?

I met their leader, Gnatzilla, just before I left. I tried to take him out with my trusty Louisville Slugger C271, but he was too freakin' fast. Kinda like a nasty Randy Johnson knee high slider fast.

I"m just sayin'.

You have to remove a panel to get to the socket in my Escape. They make it hard, don't they?

Personally, I wish there was a button you could push to see if they work. It shouldn't take two people to check the lights on your vehicle.

I'd like to see presidential debate take a different format. Questions like this:

(This is a variation of a question discussed in a college class, long ago.)

A poor man's wife is dying of a rare illness. A pharmacist in town has a cure, but it costs the equivalent of $2000. The man asks for a break, time to pay, but the pharmacist cannot because he needs the money for medical treatment for his handicapped child. The poor man steals the cure and saves his wife. He is arrested and now faces execution, because that is the penalty for theft in that community. Do you convict?

Or this ... the only question on an actual test given in a history class in American Society and Thought. (c. 1985)

We have been watched from outer space for the past few decades. Aliens with space travelling capabilities have picked up our radio and television signals. Their view of our society comes from Dallas, Dynasty and Disco. They are curious, and decide to pay us a visit. They land in the middle of the night on a college campus and find a student's dropped backpack. In this backpack is one book ... William Bradford's Of Plymouth Plantation. This book sets of a debate among the aliens on how we got from there to here. How would they answer that question, and how are we answering them today?

The actual answer isn't as important as how it's supported.

I was just thinking of asking if you are still well and plugging away at school ... good for you.

Good luck on your test. As for studying, make sure you take breaks. And break the material down into smaller sections that aren't quite so intimidating. Tackle a couple of easier sections first, if you can identify them. It should build up your confidence and make the task less daunting.

Anyway, good luck. And keep up the good work.

TeamGriffey and I just got back from our Saturday adventure. He thought watching my car go up on the lift was about the coolest thing ever. They changed my brake light, which is good because the one Toyota gave me wasn't any good anyway. I'm just so happy I found this mechanic. They're always so cool. Made me coffee and put Dora on TV for the little guy. Gave me 8 bucks off because I'm a regular, also a coupon for a free full service wash at the place next door.

If you live near Milford, it's the Procare place on 28, not far from the Kmart. I completely recommend them.

Der Onork has a point about AL ball. With the DH there's no pinch hitters for pitchers. No double switches. Kinda takes the challenge out of it. But it's still baseball so it's still good. :)

To be honest, I kind of find the pitching aspect of the AL interesting. It becomes much more about when to take a pitcher out, since there is no pitchers hitting. It's not like you run into "Well, they'll probably take the pitcher out, since he's due up 2nd in the inning." Instead it's much more just about how well he is or isn't pitching. If that makes sense. :)

I never thought a BOS-NYY ALCS would be this blah. :thumbdown

Red Sox need to get their heads out of their :allovrjr: , or something like that.

Pickerington Ohio is where i am from. I go to Collumbus St thou... will be transfering to OSU shortly....

Cool. OSU is a wonderful school. I actually attend at the Newark campus and occassionally take classes that they don't offer at main campus.

Batting practice, perhaps.

So who do y'all think has a better shot at beating the Yanks in the Series, StL or HOU?

RosieRed
10-16-2004, 10:53 PM
I think either StL or HOU could beat the Yankees, but I think StL will be the ones in the WS. Thus forcing me to root for the Cardinals. ;)

Army won another game! They have a better overall record that UC! :MandJ:

STL, yeah. HOU, I dunno. StL has guys on their team who have been there before like Renteria and Womack and even LaRussa has been there. HOU really only has Clemens and Kent if he was with SF when they went there a couple of years back. I wouldn't be too sad to see StL win it all. I got a buddy back in Iowa who is a Cards fan so it'd make him happy.

You hear that Steve Kline has gout? Must have been eating too many of those nutrition bars you had the other day. I wonder how long his hair is? ;)

Are you serious? Kline has the gout?? I didn't realize people actually got the gout these days. Poor guy!

That's sad. But I guess if you can beat UC you can beat anyone. ;) I understand that West Point is an outstanding place to watch a football game.

Yeah. I guess he had it in Spring Training. I thought I read an article earlier today about the gout causing him problems with that finger but I couldn't find it. So I just did a google search on him and gout and it turns out he gets it every spring in his foot.

Isn't one of the causes of gout eating too much fat? Thought I remembered that from health class. That's led me to wonder if the Atkins diet could lead to gout.

IMHO, it's better not to pay attention to these championship series or the likely WS. Unless you're prepared to accept that you're going to get your heart broken rooting for the underdog this year.

I was planning to ignore them, but got sucked in to the second game of each series. Now, I'm determined to stick with my original plan. That way I can preserve my angst for the Buckeyes and the Reds. ;)
