often, i will go to google.com and type in whatever it is that i'm searching for...for some reason, i am still able to see many of items i searched for several months ago, whenever i type in a new search...for example, today i was typing in something that started with the letter "s"...i couldn't remember the spelling, so i paused for a minute...much to my surprise, about 25 google searches from over six months ago appear on a dropdown menu...i know some are over six months ago, because one of the words, was a doctor's name i was looking up for my father back in september '04. i don't understand how these can still be lingering on in my system...i would like to make them disappear, but can't figure it out. i have something called "no trace" that i've used before, but even that didn't work. anyone have any suggestions?

Ummmmm.....what don't you want people to know you've been searching for? :D

Best advice. Clear your internet history. That's all I got. Hope that helps.

Have you cleared your temporary internet files (cookies)?

That too. But if you do that and you have a lot of sites remembering info. (passwords etc. .), it'll wipe that out.

Do you use the Google toolbar?

If so, try this: click Google - Option - the "more" tab - and check or uncheck the search options at the top.

Cleaning out your History/ Temp and Cookie folders will not elimibate your search/address bar entries. There is numerous software (some free) that will accomplish this.

Just off the top of my head, CleanSpace8 is one of them. I have it, and it works great at numerous other tasks also.
