Looks like Dunns injury is a little more serious than1st thought.

He porbably could use more than one day off though.

Can anyone remember back to 1995? We did the same thing to them, until the next game was bean ball day and a brawl started. I was at the game where we continued to whoop up on the Stros and next day the Brawl started and the Streak was broken. Do the Reds need to go this route to show some emotion against this team?

Do they even care?

Three-year splits on Andy Pettitte:

vs. RH - .253, .302, .371
vs. LH - .299, .333, .428

I'd be starting Dunn instead of Kearns today.

Looks like it's a Reds on radio in the backyard day. Oh well, it's gorgeous out. I think I'll clean up the deck and wax more of my car. (I'm lazy and doing it in sections. Not my favorite job.)

Top of the 1st:

(It still cracks me up that the umpires are "sponsored by" Lasik.)

Everett flies out to Junior on a 1-0 pitch. 1 out!

Biggio pops up to Randa (in foul ground?) on the first pitch. 2 outs!

Something is happening at the park. Bells going off, lights blinking ... no big deal apparently.

Bagwell walks on four straight balls.

Ensberg grounds out to Randa, who flips to Jimenez for the out at second. 3 outs!

Junior hits one fair down the first base line, but Bagwell gets it and goes the bag for the 2nd out.

What did Pettitte throw, 6 pitches or something? Hmm.

PickOff, Milton's looked great until this inning. He's kept the ball low and poured in outside strikes. Now he's getting caught up in the zone a bit.

Astros announcers try to rationalize why Adam Everett's still hitting leadoff while Willy Tavares remains in the #8 spot, proof that humans can convince themselves of anything.

Thanks for the reponse. Good to know he's looking generally good. I have actually seen only one game this year and it was the opener. Wilson looked particulary lucky to get buy with only three runs with the no location softballs he was floating up there.

Marty doesn't generally give to many discriptions about the movement or velocity of the Reds pitchers.

Why would Everett ever bat leadoff? ugh. Career obp .314 and 26 sb.

That's why as a manager, you rarely give the green light on a 3-0 count. Especially not with a runner on second, the heart of the order up, 2 outs, and Milton not being able to place anything right now.

While Everett is not the hitter to do it with, the best time to give the green light is when there's a runner in scoring position with two outs, especially when a walk doesn't particularly help you.

Personally, I would only give the green light when a double play can hurt you, but any contact can help you, ie. runner on third with 1 out or runner on second and no outs. With 2 outs, I would take the walk. Maximize baserunners, maximize possible runs scored.

It's his M.O.

Because of my locale, I was force fed Eric Milton for a ton of his career. He did the same thing with the Twins. When he's on, he can be baffling to hitters. But he's not "on" nearly often enough and you'll see games where the guy just looks unhittable and then...BAM!...you turn around and there's a four-spot on the board for the other team before you even really know what happened.

He's one of those guys who's just SO frustrating because in short spurts, he looks like he should be SOOO good. Hopefully he can build off this and put a consistent run of games together.
