I'd just like to drop by to note my total embarassment at not only trailing to possibly the worst team in baseball (possibly a team that would struggle to compete in the International league) but also the complete lack of basepath sense shown by the Reds.

And this is after showing so much improvement in avoiding mental errors over the start of the season.

The team simply doesn't have the horses to get away with making mistakes like this to teams like this.

HA! My pep talked worked!

Misreading the bloop was a boner for sure. I'm more distressed by not squeezing Mackowiak's screamer. Last year Wily Mo would have reeled that one in.

The Reds need a CF who can glove that ball. Jr. can't and if Wily Mo can't then the search goes on.
I think Jr. would have had both balls in his hip pocket. He may not get to everything he used to but he can position himself better and not have to run so far for a ball. I know Wily Mo can hit but if I were running the team until he can at least field adequately he doesn't play regularly. And I know he's young but how many freaking years does it take a person with his ability to actually be able to play adequate defense?

I wasn't basing it tonight's innings, I was basing it on the last three days and the results: Reds give up 3-4 runs in the first two innings the last two nights AND the Pirates getting 2 runs total in the last two games vs. the Cardinals, who were up all night electing a pope.

I was gonna say if Perez started the 5th, that Lloyd had a little Dusty Baker in him. Guess not.

Jimenez flies out to Redman.

3-3 after 6.

I forget, is LaRue a free agent after the season? If so, I'd love to see the Reds bring him back for 2-3 more years.

Larue is a hard worker, no doubt about it. I love watching him play. However, I think the Reds need to go with someone else at the catcher position when Jason's contract is up. Why? Well, allows WAY too many passed balls, and he's a hack at the plate. I just know that someone is going to come up with the "he gets on base". Well, he gets hit by pitches A LOT, but it isn't his bat that gets him on base. He allows himself to get hit by pitches so much, because of his OK defense and poor offense in general.

Well, he gets hit by pitches A LOT, but it isn't his bat that gets him on base. He allows himself to get hit by pitches so much, because of his OK defense and poor offense in general. Why does it matter how he gets on base as long as he actually gets on base?

Tell me how many times has a passed ball by Jason come back to haunt the Reds? I know there have been a few times he has let one go between his legs and a runner on 1st went to 2nd and then scored on a base hit but how many times does that happen over the course of a season? Counter that with the guys he throws out stealing and I think it more than makes up for it. Wait till Dane Sardinha or someone of his ilk gets behind the plate and you'll be praying for Jason to come back for his "poor offense".
