Milton has always given up homers - if he keeps the bases empty when he decides to groove one that's just vintage Milton.

Poop in a bucket and call me Sue!

A quality start!!!

I think there should be a standard quality start, you know the six innings and 3 runs variety that you get from you 3-5 starters. But there should be a real quality start when the starter exceeds those standards, either more innings, less runs, or both.

And let's call it a Doog start for no reason whatsoever.

(Hey fame comes at a price, and it might just be at the cost of shameless plugs.)

For the record, Blanco is older than Pena. It just shows how amazing it is for Pena to be doing what he's doing at his age. Blanco should be in AA at this stage, where he didn't do particularly well last year.

The fact he hasn't gone deep in other games prevents him from going deeper. You need to build up to 125 pitches. He was at 115, and his previous high was 100. You can't bank pitches to be used later. You don't see pitchers who have missed a start suddenly go 250 pitches.

That'd be fine, but the "bullpen by committee" is usually a myth unless you have a extremely deep and talented bullpen like the Nasties. A manager normally picks a guy and uses him until he blows a save or two, and lets everyone else settle into roles. "Conventional baseball wisdom", which is one of the worst tenants managers adhere to in the majors, dictates that it's just the way it's done. To me, it looks like Weathers is "the man" for now.

Even at 22, he's still relatively young. The potential and talent is there if he can learn to harness it. I think he will in due time.
