Miley better leave Freel in the lineup even if RA comes back.

Stone??? Jeepers......not that guy. He reminds me of Tom Hume around 1983-84. Boom-Boom Hume they called him for those 2 years. He was recovering from arm problems and was getting rocked.

OldXOhio

I'm impressed with him, period.

Three things became evident as this season has wore on:

-Jimenez should never have been brought back, Freel shoudl have been the opening day starter at 2B
-Lopez should have been the opening day starter at SS, Aurilia never had any business being out there
-Graves should never have been handed the closer's job, the Reds should have been busy in the offseason preparing someone else to take over or, at the very least, offering up the job as a competition.

And, funny thing is, all three were things trumpeted by people on this Forum.

You know what they say about hindsight, yet I just never understood the Jimenez signing. Nor can I fathom how Rich Aurilia had become anything more than a contingency if FeLo failed. You know where I stand on Graves.

The clock's ticking for you DanO - learn quickly from your mistakes please.

I don't care if Dunn has no Sac Fly's for the rest of his career.....all i want him to do is get the guy in from 3rd w/less than 2 outs by any means neccessary.

I think he puts too much pressure on himself in these situations.

.

The only question I have is whether the signing of Aurillia assisted in the development of Lopez by removing the added pressure of his having to replace Larkin and the pressure of his being Larsoned the job. Wouldn't the competition for the job assist him as it may have with Graves?

Wouldn't the competition for the job assist him as it may have with Graves? It would have, and it did...most everyone here agrees that lopez outplayed Aurilia during ST, it was only DanO and Miley's reluctance to go with an unproven player over an over-the-hill declining one that kept Lopez out of the lineup in April.

I never had a problem with the Aurilia signing, as I figured it would be to provide a veteran bench presence and spark FeLo a bit. i didn't imagine they would simply hand the job to Aurilia. Shows what I know. :)

Baseball is a funny game. Freel goes 4-4 and then makes 2 outs in the same inning. Either way, a great game and I think we can all agree that Freel and Lopez make up the Reds' middle infield. I'm really scared of what Miley will do when Aurilia comes off the DL.

Now your talkin'! 10 games under .500 isn't that bad considering what the club has went through! Maybe Rich and Paul on the DL will help...that and Milton pitching like he could possibly win 12 or 14 games this year!

i don't think any of us would have been too terribly upset on April 1st had someone said this team would be .500 at the break.

Getting to that .500 point is going to require the Milton's, Wilson's and Ortiz of the world to step it up not just a notch, but two.

Amazing what 3 wins against a below average team can do for fan morale. I'm not saying that to be snide, i think it points to one of the best things about our game of baseball, eternal hope and there is always tomorrow.
