Take Randa, Casey, Jr., LaRue out of our lineup and.....wow.

That's worse than AAA right there. Starting 4 auto-outs in Bergolla/Romano/Valentin/L. Lopez is just........wow. Good luck Lizard.

If you were the Pirates, would you really give the reliable Luis Lopez opportunities with men on base, though?

You've got more guts than me. :)

its a good thing the pirates are one of the worst offensive teams in baseball, but with all of our complaining about the lineup the reds will probably score 6 or 7 runs

Well this sure limits our chances to win 4 in a row. And when I say "limits" i mean not even a sliver of a chance. Pitt should be shaking Miley's hand profusely.

If Perez has anything at all tonight he will shut us out. I thought for a minute I was looking at Louisville's lineup.

Patrick Bateman

I am not sure what everyone was expecting. Outside of yesterday Griffey was playing poorly and clearly needed a day off. I don't know how this is worse than a triple A line-up considering our bad players are all triple A guys and we still do have 4 good players in there. It is difficult to blame Miley when the likes of Pena, Randa, and Casey are all injured. Griffey is going to need days off hear and there or he is sure to get injured again. But like everone else I do disagree with the placement of Dunn since Perez is going to have an easy time after him they will certainly pitch around him.

Also, don't forget to look at the Pirates line-up. They are also sporting 4 poor players while only having one above average starter. I still don't mind our chances too much.

Buckeye33
05-26-2005, 07:57 PM
Well fellow Redszoners, never fear, because the Buckeye33 fantasy baseball jinx is in affect tonight.

Everytime I've started Oliver Perez on my fantasy team this season, he has gotten shelled. The two times I did not start him, he was very very good.

Well, you guessed it, I have him starting tonight so the Reds AAA lineup will do the job and I predict a W!

Man, I hope it really is a jinx, and not just coincidence! ;)

Did Lopez, Freel, Dunn, and Kearns all get injured and then sent to Louisville on a rehab assignment? Dunn has all the protection in the world right there. What more could you want from a lineup?!

I understand there are injuries (Casey, Randa) and Junior needs a rest, but why is Bergolla batting 2nd? It seems to me that you would still give the best hitters in a given lineup the opportunity to garner the most plate appearances.

Oh well... hopefully, my little rant will be my act of hubris and I'll be eating some crow when Bergolla goes off tonight.

Only twice has a Reds shortstop hit more than 20 HRs -- both by Barry Larkin. Lopez is now on a pace to hit 28 HRs. I think we've found our shortstop of the future.

Nothing against the Lizard, but he doesn't have the arm strength necessary nor the experience to be a good starter yet. He gets by with guts and sweat, but that only can go so far in the big leagues. I would rather see Matt Belisle start between the pair, though bringing up Steve Kelly would be more interesting.

I see what you are saying but the reason he gave up runs there was becasue of poor location. If he can locate pitches better (which is supposed to be his main squeeze) he shouldn't be any worse than what we have.

Griffey might be voted on to boot. Imagine 3 all-stars for the crap we have done this year. It is also going to be hard to find a 2nd baseman playing better than Freel right now.

This is getting ugly. Very bad location by Lizard. From what I have noticed he seems to get rattled pretty easily. Whenever he gives up a big hit he seems to start grooving them. With his lack of arm strength he can't afford to leave them high.

The problem with Reith was he didn't have much talent to begin with, sorta like the Lizard which was much more his problem than just "confidence". They only become Harang's every so often.

Yeah but they kept running him out there even though he was getting absolutley shelled. From that point on his minor league numbers became worse and lost any chance he had to become a decent starter. I don't want the Lizard following the same path.

I really don't think Bergolla should be getting starting at bats. I know it's a small sample size but a freaking 258 OPS! That's not even a good BA. He needs to be sent down so he's not overmatched. He just looks lost at the plate.

Actually, the more I contemplate this lineup, the more upset I get. Why in the world, when you're sending a rookie pitcher in only his third start against Oliver Perez, would you back him up with this judy lineup? I don't care if Griffey is struggling, he did collect three hits yesterday.

Miley gave his team almost no chance to win tonight with this lineup.

Why in the world, when you're sending a rookie pitcher in only his third start against Oliver Perez,

What choice did they have. It was his turn in the rotation. What would you do instead?

Griffey needs days off, it's a fact that we are going to have to deal with for the rest of his career. This was the best time to sit him. He's in a bit of a funk and there is a tough lefty in which Griffey is unlikely to have success against. Miley's hands were tied on this one. With the injuries right now we only had poor players to replace the injured ones.
