Now more puzzling moves...

Pinch hit opportunity and we see a LH hitter against a LH pitcher but he's not our LH power who couldn't start tonight versus the LH pitcher and they're being saved until the point at which we won't either need them or use them.

Miley's a freakin' braniac.George Costanza didn't try this hard to get fired.

Well, as Wagner's ERA goes to pieces, Miley continues to manage in strange ways, and we all joke about Aurilia (who is really but a minor irritant on this team), there is one problem that somebody must face.

What to do about Milton?

Can they just trot this guy out every 5th day to get smacked around? I certainly would invest in some medical tests on his arm, because something is seriously wrong.

What your missing: He is 22 closing in on 23 years old already having thrown plenty of innings this year. I think he needs more days off. He has become more hittable over the last few innings, with less K's. That is a worry with Wagner.

Well, that and- in a park where no lead is safe- Dave Miley sent Luis Lopez to the plate with two on in the 8th Inning while Dunn and Griffey were rotting on the bench.

Hard to play for a Manager who just gives up. And let's not be mistaken- that's what Miley did.

He gave up.and he misplayed the two most important ABs of the game by sending up Cruz to PH and not having Keisler ready to pitch to Hawpe.

When everyone on here (well, not everyone, but a lot of folks) were saying that Miley deserved an extension for having nothing to work with, I kind of scratched my head and wondered why so many people admired him. I had to believe there was some basis for that, but I learned later on it was based on longeivity and the fact that he had "paid his dues."

I think my comment (I say I think because I gave up looking for it) was that Miley would never take us to the next level but I wouldn't gripe about the extension because a lot of folks knew more about baseball than I did.

Well...if I were GM, he'd be toast tomorrow. You put Milton on the mound which means a lot of runs probably will be scored (and it's in Coors, for crying out loud) and you don't play Griffey and Dunn? Then you don't use them as pinch hitters. Then, you leave Wagner in until...well, you get the idea.

No more supporting Miley.

The Rockies' radio guys are calling this one a "laugher."

We're getting laughed at by the freaking rockies

If the manager cannot do that most simple of tasks he has no business being the manager

Yep. Completely agree on that. Please don't mistake my distain for O'Brien's ineptitude as being anything resembling empathy for Miley's lack of ability.

I want them both gone yesterday.

I felt the same way when I went to the game against the Pirates last week and saw the starting lineup on the scoreboard. Of course, I had Club 4192 seats, so that softened the blow a little.

I want them both gone yesterday.I didn't. Neither Miley or DanO get a pass for poor lineup construction, poor game management, complete lack of leaderhsip, etc.

I am not a Bengals fan and always chuckled at Mike Brown and how inept he was. Never been to the playoffs since he took over for dad.

The current Reds situation is of Bengalian proportions.

On another note about this whole Dunn/Griffey debacle....i do not recall the Rockies announcers even questioning why those 2 were not playing or PH, especially during the Lopez AB. It's as if they weren't even paying attention to the game. Too busy talking about what Jon Matlack was doing lately.

Be interesting to see how the beat writers report it tomorrow. I betting they give Miley a pass instead of pressing him in post game questions how he hoped to win the game with a bad pitcher going and at the same time removing his two biggest power threats from the lineup.

You know things are screwey when the Bengals seem to be the organization (between Reds, Bengals, Bearcats) doing things the right way

Lordy lordy, what was Miley thinking when he made that lineup? Yes a lefty was pitching but how can you sit your big bats like JR and Dunn.Im at a lose for words with this game and the season.I really thought we would be a better team this year.

I would love to know what RA was told by Miley and Dano be fore he signed that contract. The guy is batting 190 or something yet he plays almost everygame. What is going on with this FO and manager they are the ones that should be blamed for this whole mess. :thumbdown :bang:

The reason that not playing Dunn and Jr is so stupid has nothing to do with righty lefty splits, yada, yada yada. It's that this team has little margin for error and if Dunn and Jr aren't out there producing this team is not going to win. The splits are meaningless because this team cannot win without them.

I went to bed before the 5th inning. I wasn't gonna waste a good night's sleep watching Romano & Co. stink it up at Coors Field.

So what Miley was saying is that guys like Aurilia and Kearns (who has struggled badly) can perform at Coors Field; but guys like Jr and Dunn can't be counted on. Even though their career stats at Coors Field are quite impressive.

I'm sorry - but I've come to the conclusion that this entire coaching staff needs to go!

Last night I had the choice of either watching the Reds-Rockies game or a replay of last Sunday's Indy 500 on ESPN Classic. I opted for the Indy 500, since I figured the outcome was more uncertain than the Reds game.

The worst case scenario, Reds losing and Aurilia and Romano playing well.

Really and truly a correct statement right there.

Worst result possible from last night was an Aurilia HR.

I have come to know baseball hate again. Dave Miley, Rich "Play me frickin' now or I will kill you" Aurilia and Dan OB are at the top of that list.

21 months ago, I would have bet there was no way the Reds would screw up the baseball gift of Kearns/Dunn. 10 months ago I was giggling over a future of Kearns/Dunn/Pena.

Now I am marveling at this club's apparent need for Rich Aurilia and Jason Romano.

It's like the FO and Miley are throwing games.

I promise to not start another game thread the rest of the season. Not only is there a rain delay, Miley abuses some type of mind altering substance, Aurilia starts, the Reds lose, and Dunn (and Jr) don't even play.

Look, I can get sitting Griffey. We all know his injury history, we all know he can use an extra day off now and then, and a rainy night with a left-hander going for the Rockies is as good a time as any. But to also take Dunn out of the lineup, sitting them both out on the same night, and apparently giving them the night off except in case of emergency, smacks of conceding the game before it starts. And that bites.

My new nickname for Aurilia is the Godfather, because he obviously has that kind of power to continue to dictate that he starts.

Star Wars lore has it that the Force works particularly well upon the weak minded. Perhaps Aurilia is a Sith. Miley certainly appears to be weak minded as a manager, and Sith happens.
