Yesterday when I was listening to WLW on the way to the game (and as I changed the station in a fit of rage, mr creek said to creek jr "wow son, that's a record, she listened for 4 whole minutes before she got mad") the host (Greg??) was agreeing with a caller that Miley should not be fired cause he is doing a fine job and people just want him fired as a scapegoat. :bang:

Too much money for a team going nowhere this year. Money that could have been put towards other needs. I think.

Given that it's a one-year deal, I don't mind it so much. I kind of like what he's given the team this year. And I kind of hope he gets traded before they can sign him to an extension.

Just something to keep an eye on.

Adam Dunn came into today 4th all-time on the Reds team OB list at .384 (Joe Morgan .415, Dummy Hoy .390, Frank Robinson .389).

Dunn also entered the day 2nd on the team SLG list at .516 (Robby .554, George Foster .514, Klu .512).

Not surprisingly, he's 2nd on the team OPS list at .900 entering today (Robby .943 with Morgan 3rd at .885).

And Adam's only 25. For anyone confused by why some many think Adam's a fairly awesome, that's why -- because he is.

Here is a hint: Try Belisle and Coffey more, yeah, they will struggle with Gullet "teaching them", but at least they have hope for a future. Watching treds get hammered is boring.

IIRC, Dunn's blast went 404 feet, Randa's went 412, and Griff's went 397.

Was at the game, and boy does this team just not have "it," not sure if it is heart, or mental acuity, or just a desire to win. The offense is there when the pitching isnt, the pitching is there when the offense isn't, and sometimes neither one shows up (Boston series).

It would be great if they could put it together, as many have pointed out, the Reds are a average to slightly below average pitching staff away from being a winning team. However, I am not as quick to point to finger and the blame solely rest on their shoulders. Watching professional clubs the past few weeks has made it glaringly obvious, the Reds now just do not know how to win. Does anyone think the Cards' offense would lose as many games with this staff? If the Reds had better pitchers, would their offense show up? It seems to me someone needs to light that winning fire, and soon.

Granted, it was a win. But after witnessing them in person, I felt I needed to vent a bit what I had been surmising the whole time.

Does anyone think the Cards' offense would lose as many games with this staff? No, they are the highest scoring team in the league, but they would not be running away with the central with this pitching staff. They would probably be about .500, maybe a few games over with better defense than our pitchers have behind them.

Well, we are the second highest scoring team in the league, only 10 runs behind the Cards. If they had this pitching staff, they would be near the cellar of the Central, with probably just a few more wins than we have now.
