Are you ready for college football? Any SEC fans here? Ut is picked to win the SEC and as much as I want that to happen it will be tough. Second and third game are at Florida and LSU, both good teams. Alabama will be better this year as will Florida. Auburn and Georgia so so, and no comment on Vandy and KY. :thumbdown

Heck yes I'm ready. UK will have an explosive offense this year if their O-line can hold up, their D will be pretty weak, but improved, and faster. I was in Knoxville last year for another UK heartbreaker. :bang:

You know I don't hate UK like some SEC fans do, I would like to see them have a good year except when they play UT. ;) Kentucky fans deserve a good football season. I also would like to see Georgia and Vandy loose every game, ha, Vandy will.

Can I please have some of those drugs?

If UK wins 4 games this year, I'd be shocked.

In fact, if we just beat UL I wouldn't care if we didn't win again.

We never beat Vandy at Vandy (oh, that's sad)

UK's offense was DEAD LAST in Div. 1-A. How it will become explosive rather than implosive, I don't know. The only sure win is some team named Idaho State. Oh, I almost forgot about IU, we beat them in every sport. :D That's why those cowards want out of the contract. ;)

Funny thing is, UK still sells out nearly every game in a 70,000 seat stadium. Are we loyal, or just stupid? Wait I'm a Reds fan, too. What does that say about me? :help: Oh well, there's always basketball.

GO DUCKS!

Only 4 road games, patsy non-conference schedule, and all tough games at home (USC, Cal, and OSU). A real offensive coordinator and an improved defense...I am VERY excited about this season. How say you, fellow Oregonians???

Lets go...Mountaineers!

Been ready for college football since May! Although I don't know how well my boys will do this year. 8-3 would be acceptable. As long as they finish with a winning record and a bowl bid I'll be one happy camper! A Big East title would make the season for me!

Go BUCKS. Run Teddy Run.

Carson and company will lead the Bengals to the Playoffs this year. I have a feeling. And I have been a Bengals fan for over 15 years, so my feelings are usually hurt. So you may want to take that to the bank.

I thought those 70,000 just get together and talk basketball while a football game goes on in the backround? ;)Count me among the ignorant masses in Lexington who will sit through just about anything on a Saturday afternoon resembling collegiate football. My family and I have had twelve UK season football tickets since 1976.... :bang:

I'll even take this psychosis one step further. Of the twelve season football tickets I just mentioned, during the late 70's, my father obtained four of them (seven rows up on the 47 yard line) by forfeiting a pair of season UK basketball tickets (albeit upper arena). Don't ask. Let's just say that Pops was never much of a Joe B. Hall fan...

Between watching hundreds of UK football games over the last nearly thirty years and having graduated from the University of Florida, I don't really know any brand of football other than the SEC. I have been to games at most of the conference stadia (with the exception of Arkansas and Mississippi State). By the way, if you've never taligated at some of these SEC towns...it's hard to describe to you the atmosphere.

I bet a lot of people are glad these guys are out of the MAC.

UK-a team that knows too much about heartbreak in the SEC. They have been somewhat competitive against decent competition in different years, but have never came away with a win.

I can only take so much, thats why I pull for them in basketball only.:)

You didn't happen to go to a certain game in 2002 against a certain team from Louisiana, did you? I'll never forget that game as long as I live.Let's put it this way. Not only was I there, but I was actually on the field as the Hail Mary was caught. Because I only had to walk down a few rows, I thought to myself--What the Hell? And I hopped the wall down onto the field and watched the last 2-3 plays from the UK sideline. I admit that I was far too old to be caught up in the "Goalposts: The Sequel" hype, but we had just been so putrid for so long...I mean, only at UK would would fans go after the goal posts after beating a team that was barely in the Top 25 at the time, right?

I'll never forget the look on the faces of the students that were situated on the opposite end of the field and had no idea the Cats had lost the game. You've heard of the "Walk of Shame"???--Guys were quickly climbing back down from the uprights and the UK players were just walking around like zombies. The field was like a church it was so quiet. Guy Morriss, who was wearing a white shirt that was completely soaked thru from his Gatorade bath only seconds earlier, looked like he was going to hurl on his State Trooper escort. I walked up to Shane Boyd (QB) and told him to "hang with 'em"...all he kept saying was, "That's boosh*t, man. Boosh*t..."

No Shane. That's just the latest chapter in the never-ending saga.

Oh come on Krono, Starkville is a nice town. Very little crime, good restaurants and now with Croom runing the show instead of Jackie Sherrill you migh just see a good team on the field. Bum rap you give the town, yeah I agree it is not Lexington, Nashville or some big city, still a nice little town, other than Oxford, probably the smallest town in the SEC. Watch out for the BullDogs this year, they may just surprise you.

I have a feeling this entire season is going to be somewhat anti-climactic as I don't see anyone even being able to play with USC. I really believe the 2005 USC Trojans will go down as one of the greatest college football teams of all time. All this is assuming Matt Leinart is healthy and they don't suffer too badly from the loss of the offensive genius Norm Chow.

Not going to predict a win, but keep in mind that USC must travel north to Autzen Stadium. Where Champions go to die. How'd your Wolverines fare there? W/o Chow, I think USC is vulnerable. Again, not saying my Ducks WILL win, but take a look at their schedule. A push-over non-conference schedule and only 4 road games, with their 3 hardest games (USC, Oregon St., and Cal) coming at home. Just sayin' ;)

My pick, Rocky Top in the east and LSU in the west. Vandy and UK with 3 wins each. Yours?

KronoRed

Florida in the east ;)

Auburn in the west

Krono, I can see somewhat your pred's in the west, Florida well, hope your wrong, but Vandy going to a bowl? OnBaseMachine

North Texas has a stud at RB--freshman Jamario Thomas ran for 1801 yards(6.3 ypc) last season and scored 17 touchdowns in only eight games. Had five consecutive 200+ yard rushing games. But then again they do run the ball just about every play.

I'll go with LSU and Tennessee in the SEC Championship game. Part of me wants to pick Georgia but I'll stay with my first instincts and pick the Vols.

Louisville will go undefeated and win the Big East. Their schedule looks relatively easy...with Oregon State at home, at West Virginia, and vs Pitt being the only tough games. UConn or Syracuse could be potential roadblocks but I doubt it. Louisville is much more talented that the aforementioned teams.

Southern Cal should win the Pac-10 again and will be the favorites to the win the NC.

Boise State will be tough again this year. I enjoy watching those WAC teams air it out almost every play. They can put some points on the board, that's for sure.

I think Michigan will take the Big-10 with Iowa and Ohio State finishing second and third.

Texas, Oklahoma and Texas A&M will battle for the Big Twelve South title.

I see Florida State and Virginia Tech facing off in the first ever ACC Championship game.

National Chamionship game-USC vs Texas

I'll go with ewetee in the SEC East and LSU in the West.
If Kentucky wins four games it will be a spectacular season. I hope I'm wrong but I think one win will be it. Baskeball practice starts October 15. :p:
I think Louisville will lose at WVU. That's a tough place to play. But they will still win the Big Least.
USC should go undefeated but for some reason I think they will lose one somewhere along the way. Maybe at Notre Dame?

LincolnparkRed
08-25-2005, 01:58 PM
Well I think everyone should look out for the Hoosiers since they changed their face masks from white to red they should be unstoppable. It's not the talent difference between IU and the rest of the bigten but the uniforms that are keeping the Hoosiers down.

jmcclain19
08-25-2005, 02:40 PM
Lets put my pontifications down so they can be made fun of in November.

ACC - VaTech scares me, because Marcus Vick could be the second coming of his brother Mike or of Ron Pawlus. Unless Kyle Wright does his best Chad Hart impression, then Miami has more than enough to beat VaTech. Florida State will be a non-factor. BC could surprise. But It'll be VaTech in the end.

Big 10 - If Iowa didn't soil themselves at ASU last year, they would have been in a BCS game, and that was with no scholarship RBs healthy. They'll roll thru the Big 10 this season.

Big 12 - This will be Texas' year to dump OU. Perfect conditions for that to happen. Then Texas will get dumped by a Texas Tech or A&M shortly thereafter ruining their National Championship hopes. I'm picking A&M to pull off some shockers this year. Lets go with A&M and Iowa State in the Championship game, with A&M prevailing.

Big East - Along as Bobby Petrino can't figure out a way to get himself fired for constantly flirting with other jobs, Louisville will be the big dogs in the East for a long, long time. Love WVU style of play though. Dave Wannstadt will find some way to take one of last years nastiest and prolific passing offenses and turn them into a grind it out running team sadly. Pitt, we hardly knew ye.

Pac 10 - USC is ripe for the picking this year. They have to travel to Oregon, to Cal and ASU, and any one of those, perhaps two or maybe even all three, could pick them off. They'll still win the Pac10, but they'll get bloodied up along the way. They are still playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers. Next year comes the real test.

SEC - Tennessee will just be flat out nasty this year. Bama could be 10-1 or 4-7, who knows. Give Florida one more year before they are a top 5 team. Georgia has no real QB and they lost a lot on D, but they are always trouble. But UT will win.

So my final score - no teams run the table this year, no big conference teams that is, although I think Boise State could do it this year, upsetting UGA and Oregon State along the way.

Lets go with five one loss teams - Texas, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Louisville, USC. USC and A&M will lose their's early, Tennessees will be late, Texas will have theirs to A&M, and Louisville will get no respect after getting surprised by the likes of Pitt, placing in the polls behind two loss Iowa. So the BCS will be USC, A&M, Texas, Tennessee, Iowa, Louisville, Michigan and VaTech. That makes a USC/A&M Rose Bowl, and USC won't lose that one in their hometown.
