Is anyone interested in playing in a fantasy hockey league when Yahoo releases their fantasy hockey game?

I was thinking of limiting it to 10 teams, probably rotisserie format with whatever type draft you'd want either live or offline.

Let me know if you'd be interested so I can start up a Redszone Hockey League.

Let me also make a note that this would be open for all newcomers. I'm no expert when it comes to hockey, but I love the sport, and love watching certain players and teams. I've only been following hockey for about 2-3 years. So even if you want to use this league to learn about hockey, I'm fine with that. This is for fun. Don't feel like people are going to make fun of you or anything, because that's not stopping me from playing. :laugh:

Ok, the hockey league is setup.

Go to Yahoo Fantasy main page and click on Hockey.

The League ID is 14005 and the password is redszone.

10 teams, head to head. Live Draft Tue, Sept. 20th at 9pm EST.

Positions are as follows: C, LW, LW, RW, RW, D, D, D, D, Util, Util, G, G, BN, BN, BN, BN, IR, IR.

Stats are as follows: G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, GWG, SOG for offense.
W, L, GAA, SV, SV%, SHO for goalies.

Max of 8 starts for goalies per week, so basically your 2 goalies can start 4 games a week each.

Draft is tomorrow night. We have 8 now. I'd be more than happy to have you join the league, but we can't draft with an odd number of owners. You'd have to find someone else that would agree to join with you so we'd have 10 teams.

My wife had crap for me to do when I got home, that HAD to be done as soon as I walked in the door, so I missed the first 2 rounds. Never got that top 5 RW I wanted, but everything else is ok. Should be a fun season, looking forward to it. I'm still learning as we go.

I can't believe Crosby went as quick as he did.

My team. I'm counting on Lehtonen to win the job and dominate like he should. I dunno, I'm strugging if Crosby doesn't live up to the hype. I can't see him not scoring with the line he will be on though.

The scoring is all screwed up in the Yahoo league. It didn't count any of the goalkeepers stats last week.

least three (3) appearances each week. Should a tandem fail to meet this requirement, their fantasy team will automatically lose all four of the
goaltending match-ups.

This limit applies to the combined appearances of all goalies on your
roster. Each goalie is not required to appear in three games. This limit was introduced so that each match-up is settled based on stats
accumulated over several games.

With no limit, a team that recorded a shutout in one start would
automatically win or tie the goals-against average and save percentage
match-up.

Private Leagues default to the Public League settings, but the limits
are configurable.

This isn't accurate in our case.
The person that I played against had two goalies that made three starts each. But it still showed up as a tie.

Their letter also said:

Our league was set at a minimum of 8 goalie appearances per matchup /week. That's why no one met the minimum requirements....only a couple of teams had 7.

I have since changed that to 3. I'm guessing that even if you had 3 starts each by 2 different goalies, but didn't have at least 8 goalie appearances (which was everybody) you lost the categories.

Not a problem, I'm real sorry that I didn't notice this by the start of the season, and it affected everyone's week 1 scores. If you won all of the goalie categories in the first week, and had to split them, I sincerely apologize. Hopefull with the change to 3 starts per week, things are cleared up.

The postitives are that 1) it affected everyone the same, and 2) the NHL season is loooooong, so this shouldn't have too much bearing on the season outcome.

Once again, I'm sorry I didn't catch this earlier. Hopefully, those that were "penalized" won't jump ship and we can have a fun season.

I tried that...but then I almost had to rename my team the "Pulled Groins"

Funny thing is if you look at my team, I have nothing but oldies.

I don't know much about hockey, and likely only have anyone from the 2003 NHL video game.

Jagr, Hasek, Modano, Hull, Pronger, Lindros, Federov, Roenick, Hasek, Belfour...

maybe these old guys can just keep themselves in shape? ;)
