View Full Version : Do we have any librarians on here? :help:

I need a login and password for the Project Muse online Journals. My local library isn't a suscriber so they couldn't be of assistance. Any help would be greatly appreciated, since the only other alternative is buying the journals from University of Nebraska Press and that is quiet an expensive proposition.

Maybe if you Google for library subscribers you could turn up something? I don't know.
Or maybe you could contact various libraries, either online or via telephone. Most are more than willing to share such information.

State universities in your state might be willing to let you pay a small fee for access to their online library resources like this. You may not be a student there, but you are a taxpayer. Give 'em a try!

Thanks TB, I hadn't thought of that. That might work.

Yep, VPI (Va. Tech) is a premium subscriber and it just happens that my sister and brother-in-law both work for the university. I'm waiting to hear back from them now.
Thanks to both of you the helpful suggestions.

It would be a contract violation if a professional librarian were to give you their login and password to a proprietary site. Depending on what you need, there may be alternatives. Are you just looking for a few articles, or do you need the entire run of a journal? PM me and describe what you are trying to do and I'd be glad to try to come up with an solution.

Thanks sundeck, but I think I have what I need now. If not, my sister can get me into the library at VPI, so it shouldn't be a problem. It'll give me an excuse for a visit. I definantly don't want to get anyone into trouble. Thanks for the help.

I'm glad you found what you needed. Something similiar happened to me in grad school. My university didn't have the complete collection of the journals I needed, so I had to drive 150 miles on a motorcycle each way to another university to get what I needed. At least it was spring time and it didn't rain :)
