Jeez, get that garbage out of this thread.

Go start your own "Squealer Apologist" thread, then you can come up with as many excuses as you want and have them all in one place for handy future reference.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Three of the Steelers five losses came at the hands of New England, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati. All three of those games, Roethlisberger was the QB.

The division title is nice, but I am not going to be satisified unless they secure the #2 seed, and that is going to require a win at Kansas City. The Chiefs NEVER lose at home in December...NEVER. Technically, though, the game won't be in December. It will be January 1, so maybe they have a shot. Oh, and San Diego has to beat Denver on New Year's Eve, as well.

The difference between the #2 and the #3 seeds will be night and day. The #3 seed will have to host the Steelers and then travel to the home of the #2 seed. The #2 seed will take the first week off and then host the second-round game. Big difference, there!

Just to put this season in perspective, this is only the fourth time in the 38-season history of the franchise that the team has won as many as 11 games. Many fans remember the 1981 (12-4) and 1988 (12-4) teams, but the 1975 team (11-3) was pretty good, as well.

For what it's worth, ESPN SportsCenter said last night that this was only the third 11-win season in the team's history. I guess ESPN refuses to accept that sports were actually played before the Bristol network came into existence in 1979.

The Cleveland/Pittsburgh game will indeed be very interesting. That rivalry is definately bigger than anything the Bengals have had with the Steelers. What better way for the Browns to put an exclaimation point on Romeo's first season than to nock the Steelers out of the playoffs!

I can hear GAC suiting up already! :)

Well, my dirty little secret is that I am a Steelers fan. And I would like to say congrats on your season this year, you deserve it. Your team has arrived and the AFC North is going to be one heck of a ride for a number of years to come, well done Bengals and good luck the rest of the way!

All kidding aside, with a lethal offense and an oportunistic defense--which keeps
improving each week--the Bengals are not only a legitimate Super Bowl threat this year; they are also in a position to dominate the AFC North for the foreseeable future.

And yes, I am happy for you Bengals fans who had to endure close to fifteen years of no postseason. How can you empathize with us, you ask?

I am, after all, a Reds fan, you know;)

With Charlie Frye at the helm, the Steelers are going to be in for a fight.

Speaking of Frye...With former MAC QBs Big Ben and Frye currently starting for NFL teams and Gradkowski and Omar Jacobs most likely to follow, you have to wonder how the Big Ten schools--which haven't exactly been producing NFL starting-caliber QBs--allowed the afforementioned QBs to slip through their fingers, so to speak.

Don't forget Leftwich in Jacksonville and Pennington in NY. Both are MAC quarterbacks that were the starters for their teams at the beginning of the season.
