I thought they had come out with an Eric Gagne Dodger hat when I first saw it.

That's been a theme in California (mostly around beach areas) for years, usually related to seagulls. Nothing new here except they added a Dodger logo. Seems appropriate.

BOSS: Gentlemen, we need a way to make this game appealing to masses!

ASST: Faster games! How about a nine-run mercy rule unless Danny Graves is in the game? Or only one pitching change per inning? A shot clock for Tim McClelland’s hand signals?

ASST: That sounds like a lot of collective bargaining, which our lawyer fans will eat up with a spoon. It’s the other 98% I’m talking about.

ASST: We could mass-produce cookie-cutter apparel and encourage people to express their individuality by getting it at the mall and wearing it everywhere they go.

BOSS: Go on.

ASST: We could produce everything overseas in Kathy Lee’s factories and charge a premium here at home, making every piece in the line seem like a status symbol.

BOSS: That’s fresher than a jock strap before a day game!

ASST: Best of all, the design work is done. After all the stadiums we’ve forced the fans to build over the years, we have a ton of paint-splattered hats lying around as prototypes.

BOSS: Johnny Lunchbox will eat those up. What about the kids?

ASST: Easy. And I do mean very easy. When young ladies show up in the player parking lot and waving, we stand back and snap photos of whatever appears above the waistline.

BOSS: Bull’s eye!

:)

I've never been a big fan of the monochrome MLB caps and the other weird stuff, but the ones at the site below are interesting to look at, if nothing else...

http://www.ecapcity.com/goods_list.php?cid=386

There is no "next page" arrow at the bottom of the page, so you'll have to click on the individual page numbers.

In some cases the colors are easily recognizable as the scheme of other current and historical teams, just used with the wrong logo...

http://www.ecapcity.com/upload/goods/b81922_LAhygB.jpg

...while others are just strange...

I need to say that I hate how nearly every guy at my college (and I imagine nearly every high school/college) has multiple baseball caps that they alternate routinely. If the hats had ANYTHING but a team's logo on it I wouldn't mind, but damn man wearing a hat is supposed to show your fandom for your team, not just because you think their logo looks cool.

I hear you can get those out west -- but from what I've heard, you show your support for a different kind of "team" when you wear it.

Yea, I saw a guy wearing a Reds cap a month or so ago and asked what he thought about Volquez. When he gave me a confused look, I pointed out that he was wearing a Cincinnati Reds cap. He looked truly shocked and said, "Really? I thought it was a red Cubs hat..."

I've always had this strange, unexplainable dislike of people wearing red baseball hats from teams that don't wear red hats...

The White Sox...had the all blue caps in the late 60's early 70's and then went to the Red cap in the middle 70's....but kept the same SOX lettering ...they looked like those hats that you think were made to look like someone else's team colors as well.

When i wear the blue or red Sox cap.....people don't really believe that they were hats worn by those teams during a certain period of time.

I used to have a red white sox hat circa 71-75.

People used to make fun of me like I screwed up when I bought it but I was a big Frank Thomas fan and liked that hat specifically.

Yes...i get the same type of response....so i take it off and show the years on the inside bill.

Usually it's guys in their 20's.....who as we know ...anyone in their 20's really is not much for checking any history beyond the last few years. ;)

I wish the Sox would go back to that color scheme or to the old blue based scheme. I can't say I've ever been a fan of the black for that team. I generally think that only one or two team in a league should have black as a primary color of their uniforms.

Both of those two teams should immediately look into adopting those uniforms. Going to USC Colors would be an inspired move for the Angels, and the Marlins new logo (and accompanying U of M color scheme) is pretty solid as well.

I liked several of his alternatives, including the red on the Braves' unis, but yeah, those two were the best, especially the Angels. I was disappointed, though, not to see anything for the Rockies, who have, imho, the ugliest uniforms in baseball. Is there something in the archives, maybe?

I always liked the Carps look.....almost better than the Reds look before they went back to the more traditional look last year.

It looks spot on like a middle to late 60's Reds uniform.

The new look.....the hat looks like the late 60's Indians hats......Red with the blue C....which some people think is a Bears hat......beacuse I have that hat and wear it (It is a New Era hat.....not the American Needle one....so it is bigger....without the bent bill)....some people ask me or just start talking about the Bears when i wear it.

I like the New Era ones better beacuse they look more like the original but the bill is too straight....and the hat...even when it's your size (Mine is 7 1/2 or 7 5/8...depends on how much hair i have on my head)...it still looks oversized and has that stupid Kevin Federline look to it.
