but are we the worst team in the NL? MLB?The Reds are the baseball equivalent of Ethan Frome on a snowy night.

I think we're better than both the Royals and Pirates, maybe the Tigers.

Not much has been done to harm the offense, so I don't think the Reds are even close to being the worst team in baseball. What's troubling, though, is that they are neither getting any better now nor setting things up to be strong in the future.

So, the worst team? Definitely not. The worst organization? That's an open question.

I think in the NL the only team worse is Florida, Colarado is a maybe but they are atleast young and cheap.

I honestly think this years team will suprise everyone and finish third. I really like Claussen and Harang, and I think Paul Wilson will be ok if he stays healthy. If the offense does what it should, I could honestly see this team winning 78-84 games.

Glass half full.

I'd put us ahead of the following organizations: Colorado, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Tampa Bay, Washington, Baltimore, and maybe even San Francisco and Seattle.

Florida just has too much organizational talent, although we will probably win more games than they will in 2006.

Colorado, Kansas City are the only ones I can make a true argument of being worse.

Hey, the Reds draft 3rd then in 2007!!

The O is still good despite Dan O's attempts to kill it.

But the pitching will be status quo.

I tend to measure a team less in absolute terms (i.e. Reds as the 30th team out of 30) and more by what they are "capable of"--that is, in any given year, this current incarnation of the Reds could be the worst-performing of the 30 teams in MLB.

Not even the champions of bad!
Mediocre through and through!

Over all franchise wise looking ahead at what exists < Not just at the MBL lineup stage, yes we maybe just about the worst:help:

I think we're better than both the Royals and Pirates, maybe the Tigers.

I think the Pirates will be pretty entertaining this year. They have fine YOUNG pitching and an improved offense. Not at all sure about the defense though.

I would put the Reds far below the Pirates......and I think counting on 6th is a pretty sure thing.....of course an injury or two and either the cubbies or the brewers could challenge that.

01-10-2006, 02:33 AM
The pirates are pretty much the inverse of us. They have some solid young pitching, but won't realize who their good hitters are (Craig Wilson) and are signing overpriced average talent to push them to the playoffs.

01-10-2006, 06:24 AM
We have the worst GM, so that's a start.

01-10-2006, 09:06 AM
Not the worst in ML. We have a chance to be the worst in the NL.

We're about 2 bonehead trades from being the worst. If the new owners don't pump in the cash to keep our position players, we'll be the worst pretty soon.
