Per Marc's blog:

The misdemeanor disorderly intoxication charge filed against Ryan Freel after his arrest in Tampa two weeks ago has been dropped.

The prosecuting attorney in the case agreed to let Freel enter a diversion program that will require him to perform 35 hours of community service and go six months "without any further incidents."More good news....I guess.

As long as he gets the needed help it's good.

I'd call that good news. Probation has a way of focusing one's attention on the rule of law. Plus, the community service is plenty of punishment for yelling some obscentities.

That's all assuming, of course, that he's not a functioning alcoholic or future vehicular homicider.

It's good that the second incident got the FO's attention for a second intervention. It should also cause Freel's teammates to look out for him more than before. The peer pressure they apply may do more good than any punishment doled out by the FO.
