I need a birthday present for an 8 YO ballplayer.

Has anyone got good/bad things to say about Bataction? Personal pitcher? Is there something decent (er, cheaper) of which I'm not aware?

I bought a bataction a few years back for my son....didn't really think it was productive. Soft toss into a net is much more productive IMO. Also tee-work is a must. If you have the $$ and room, build him a batting cage.

I have a nephew that is wearing one of these out, heloves it.

I am not around enough to know what effect it is having, but if its warm, he is taking swings with it. It would not be out of line to say that he is one of the better hitters in his league, but I have no idea if the helps or hinders.

yup, we have one of those hanging around a basketball pole. I like it; he'd rather play catch.

maybe he's just meant to be a short righthanded pitcher.
