I hope he makes it into THE HOF...I loved him as a player...when I was a kid, he was the player I wanted to be.

Davey "Elmer" Concepcion has always been one of my favorites. it seemed like he always had a grin on his face.

I don't get the "Elmer" thing...his middle name is Ismael.

It's a nickname hung on him by Larry Bowa, I think. Story goes Bowa, Concepcion and possibly others were hanging around before a game and Bowa said to Davy that he didn't know his first name was really Elmer. Davey didn't know what he was talking about and Bowa said something to the effect that every time he picked up the paper and read the Reds' box scores he'd see "E Concepcion. :owned: I'm not a big Bowa fan but that was a pretty good dig.
