View Full Version : 2006 Opening Day Lineup guesses

I am nowhere near as hardcore of a Reds fan as many here, but in looking at our roster, from an offensive standpoint, we are stacked!

MY guess:

Freel 2B
Lopez SS
Griffey CF
Dunn 1B
Pena LF
Kearns RF
EE 3B
LaRue C

If EE comes around this year and Lopez continues where he left off, they could be "Big Red Machine"scary on offense.

Pitching on the other hand... :help:

edit: after looking at the depth chart on cr.com I guess I'm not really going out on a limb that much other than Freel over Womack at 2B.

Question though... Why/How on earth is Womack above Freel?!

Becuase management thinks Freel is better coming off the bench....

This is probably pretty close to the ideal lineup. Which means we will likely never see it, except for maybe 5-10 games sprinkled throughout the season.

my guess:
lopez
aurilla
griffey
dunn
Pena
EdE
Kearns

Milton
yes, milton opening the season. They have to try and turn around his image so if he ends up being half way decent in the spring i don't see why they wouldn't start him. I don't want to see it but it's what I think will happen.

I have no clue what Narron WILL do.

Here's what I'd do:

1. Freel 2B
2. EddieE 3B
3. Dunn 1B
4. Junior CF
5. Kearns RF
6. Lopez SS
7. WMP LF
8. LaRue C

I just like the idea of getting EddieE into the mix early and often. Lou did it with AROD in Seattle.

Like Raisor; I'd put Kearns higher if he had shown better performance last year. But he hasn't. Also, I like Encarnacion at #2. This would certainly be a challenge and give him some good pitches to hit instead of being burried at #8.

That's way too progressive for these guys Phil ;)

I like the idea, EE would get good stuff to hit.

How bout this one

Freel
EE
Dunn
JR
Lopez
Kearns
WMP
LaRue

I trust Lopez more then Kearns at this point

I think what we will see is this unless EE comes out of the gate smokin'.

2B.) Freel
SS.) Lopez
CF.) KGJR
1B.) Dunn
3B.) Aurilia
RF.) Kearns
LF.) Pena
C.) Larue

What I would like to see right now is this

2B.) Freel
SS.) Lopez
CF.) KGJR
1B.) Dunn
RF.) Kearns
LF.) Pena
C.) Larue
3B.) Encarnacion

What I would like to see by the end of the season would look alot like this if everything happened the way I wanted.

2B.) Bergolla
SS.) Lopez
1B.) Dunn
CF.) Pena
LF.) KGJR
RF.) Kearns
3B.) Encarnacion
C.) Larue/Perez

But it will probably end up like this.

2B.) Womack
SS.) Lopez
1B.) Dunn
3B.) Aurilia
RF.) Kearns
LF.) Pena
CF.) Denorfia
C.) Valentin

Who knows but it will likely look like #1 unless Edwin blows up and does it early.

I would like to see:

2B Freel
SS Lopez
1B Dunn
RF Kearns
LF Griffey
CF Pena
3B EE
C Larue

That what I would go w/ so there is little chance Jerry "Miley" Narron will ever sign do it.

I like Raisor's lineup. Unfortunately, it'll never happen (I don't see Narron putting EdE above the 6 slot all year).
