movies I'll see because the actors are in it:

Gene Hackman (I could watch him get his mail!)
Tom Hanks
WC Fields
Monty Python
Bob Duvall
Chris Walken

the women:
Natalie Wood
Audrey Hepburn
Kate Hepburn
Jodie Foster
Francis McDormand
Emma Thompson

I think the movies that the top level actors choose to do affects my list. I love Sandra Bullock, but because ALL of her movies show the same reaction shots..etc. i don't see anything stronger there. I know comedy is a bit tighter than drama - but others strtetch out.

I don't have the cinematic knowledge of some of the older crowd here, so I'll speak mostly of the last 20 years.

Ed Norton and Paul Giamatti are my favorites. Whatever they do, I believe in it, and I'm compelled to watch it.

John Turturro and Steve Buscemi are up there.

I also think that George Clooney is vastly underrated, and will be more respected in 20 or 30 years after his politics aren't so scrutinized.

SunDeck, I don't get the hate for Geena Davis. I haven't seen her TV show, but thought she was outstanding on the big screen.

Kathy Bates is stellar.

Like Dom Heff, I have a mad crush on Kate Winslet, but also think she's quite good.
