Rich Aurilia & Tony Womack are traded to the Rockies.

Marc Lancaster's been traded to the Dayton Daily News for Chick Ludwig and a FCTBNL (Food Critic to be named later).

Baseless Rumor: Dave Williams is traded to the Pirates for Sean Casey. The Reds then send Kearns to KC for Grienke. The Reds reasoning is that they feel Casey can help Grienke through this tough time.

Mine would be:

Reds trade: SP Eric Milton, a PTBNL, and $8M, to the Pirates for SP Oliver Perez, and a PTBNL.

With Kip Wells now most likely out for the season, the Pirates need a SP for the rotation, and I believe they are souring on Perez. He hasn't pitched well in awhile, and they have no idea on how to fix his mechanics. The Reds desperately want to shed Milton's salary. The PTBNL on the Reds side starts as a mid-level prospect (Luke Hudson?), but turns into a higher quality prospect (Denorfia?) if Milton is injured before the season starts. The PTBNL from the Pirates is also a mid-level prospect with the Pirates creating a list of 5 players the Reds can choose from.

Broxton is closer material. Billingsley is projected a number 2 pitcher now and might develop into a number 1. Reds get them and they would be the top two prospects in the Reds system. Maybe if you can convince the Dodgers to throw lst baseman Choi in the deal it would offset the loss of Dunn.

No one said turning this franchise around would be easy.

What you propose is a crapshoot move to "turn around" the franchise whenever you toss Dunn''s name out there for pitching prospects.

Personally I don't shoot craps, it's more chance than skill, I prefer skill.

A trade like that is dealing away your most valuable commodity for a chance to roll the dice at the craps table.

You don't think Krivsky knows that? He and Terry Ryan rolled the dice and came up big in the trade with the SF Giants that netted them Nathan and Liriano.

Or would you rather have Krivsky sit on his hands like Dan O'Brien did?and it cost them a stud named "AJ"(who the Giants let walk after one season). An excellent comparable for Adam Dunn. Nathan was already an established major league pitcher who was coming off a good season as a reliever.

The comparable would be trading Larue for Billingsley and Broxton.

Baseless trade idea #498:

Edwin Encarnacion and a yet to be named AA prospect for Scott Baker.

Twins have 6 starters and Tony Batista at 3rd base with nothing promising in the pipeline. Reds make Rich Aurilia their everday 3rd baseman and put Baker in the rotation. Baker starts as the Reds 5th starter, and Dave Williams is moved to the bullpen when Wilson returns.

Hinckley is coming back from shoulder problems. LaRue has value. Might be better if we'd be able to pry Clint Everts from them instead of Hinckley, even if it means giving up the PTBNL.

Well, Everts has already had TJ surgery and showed some success, or at least has shown that his stuff will probably come back after TJ surgery. He throws in the low 90's and has a good curve and change.

Hinckley sprained his shoulder last year, and never really rebounded. Kremcheck did surgery on him in the offseason. He reports feeling good this spring, but no games yet to support that. It's possible he will have other problems with his arm. He also works in the low 90's, and has a good curve, but his change probably isn't as good as Everts'.

I'd say Everts is a "safer" pick between the two. He's probably the better pitcher as well....

No way. Move Womack to LF and sit Pena. Pena doesn't make enough contact. Besides, WMP is a better threat off the bench when you need that HR late in the game.
