Phil Dumatrait gets em 1-2-3 in the 1st. 700's commercial are still annoying.

Another dual leadoff hitter lineup.

Fear runs rampant.

Dumatrait gives up a solo HR to Gomes to put the Rays up 1-0. Bases are now loaded. Not sure how many outs.

What did the Reds do in the bottom of the inning?

What did the Reds do in the bottom of the inning?

Nothing. Journell in now for the Reds. 1st batter reaches on a ball Womack should have got.

Chip R
03-05-2006, 01:47 PM
Correction on that last post. That was a 1 out base hit by Hollins. Sardinha picks him off 1st. Gomes follows with a base hit and Journell picks him off. Still 1-0 Rays.

Kearns reaches on a walk to lead off the inning. LaRue hits into a Casey. Sardinha gets hit by a pitch. Freel files to RF. After 3 Rays 1 Reds 0

Chip R
03-05-2006, 02:05 PM
Nothing doing for either team in the 4th but Dukes leads off the 5th with a HR. Kozlowski in his 2nd inning for the Reds.

membengal

Reds still don't have a hit with two outs in the bottom of the fifth.

membengal
03-05-2006, 02:21 PM
They do have two on with two out, there have been plenty of walks and HBP dealt by D-Ray pitchers, but no hits as of yet.

membengal
03-05-2006, 02:21 PM
Bases loaded after Sardhina also gets HBP.

Freel due up.

membengal
03-05-2006, 02:23 PM
Freel pops up the first pitch he sees. Inning over.

membengal
03-05-2006, 02:25 PM
Bubba Nelson in pitching to start the sixth, he's the fourth Reds pitcher to work the day.

Appearently Womack forgot how to field...another one gets by him

membengal
03-05-2006, 02:27 PM
Basehit for Gomes, Marty incredulous that Womack didn't make a play on the ball. Says "there's another ball that should have been gotten", but I don't know if he means another ball or two that Womack has missed or other players throughout the game.

And then a hit by Travis Lee, two on, no out.

membengal
03-05-2006, 02:30 PM
Double for another Ray, runner home, runner to third, Nelson making a play to return to Chattanooga for 2006.

3-0.

membengal
03-05-2006, 02:32 PM
Nelson gets ahead of next batter 0-2, and then serves up a three-run homerun.

Nelson making a play to be selling insurance come June.

6-0.

Marty going off on how bad the Chris Reitsma deal was. "Has there been a worse trade in the last five or six years for this ball club? I don't think so."

Matt700wlw
03-05-2006, 02:33 PM
Bubba sucks....

What a stupid trade.

flyer85
03-05-2006, 02:34 PM
All I know is I want the Reds to do for Woemack what the Marlins did to Reese, make him disappear.

Bubba sucks....

What a stupid trade. It was a bad deal the day it was made and will always be a bad trade.

membengal
03-05-2006, 02:36 PM
And now a walk after finally getting an out.

He's approaching "regular season Manzanillo incompetent" at this point.

membengal
03-05-2006, 02:38 PM
A second out, then another base hit. Narron has seen enough, even for the spring, and Nelson is yanked. I think they are summoning a popcorn vendor.

membengal
03-05-2006, 02:41 PM
The popcorn vendor picks the guy off first, and then the run down is screwed up. Double steal when all is said and done. Still two outs, with two more in scoring position.

Marty thinks Narron is "hotter than a match right now".

03-05-2006, 02:44 PM
do we have a hit yet?

membengal
03-05-2006, 02:44 PM
The popcorn vendor (some reds hand named Maholic? Mahowlik?) gets the third out.

6-0. All that's left is to see if the D-Rays can close out the, what must be exceedingly rare, spring training no-hitter.

membengal
03-05-2006, 02:51 PM
Double for Jacob Cruz, no-hitter gone.

Joe wondering how it is that Cruz doesn't have a spot on the club locked up as a pinch hitter. Marty noting that Cruz doesn't bring a whole lot to the table otherwise. Joe noting that bat on ball is a good thing. They each say "thank you" to each other.

KronoRed

Cruz power.

Edwin is just hitting the crap out of the ball this spring.

membengal
03-05-2006, 02:54 PM
Hit for Encarnacion, driving in Cruz with the Reds' first run of the day.

7th RBI according to Marty for EE on the spring (altho I think it is his 8th). Either way, he's still raking. EE at 2b with two outs, then a ground out makes three outs.

6-1 TB after 6.

reds44
03-05-2006, 02:56 PM
IF EE isn't the starter on OD, then something isn't right.

membengal
03-05-2006, 02:58 PM
Chris Hammond gives up a hit, then gets a line drive DP and a ground out. Middle of the 7th, still 6-1 TB.

Joe also said that Cruz led the NL in pinch hits and Marty said no, he led the Reds.

I think Joe's right and Marty's wrong.

Anybody know off the top of your head?

Still have Bong ;)

Bong did OK in his first appearance for Japan.

Three up three down for the Reds in the 7th, still 6-1 heading to the 8th inning.

membengal
03-05-2006, 03:08 PM
Jason Standridge in to pitch the 8th. Miguel Perez in to catch for Sardhina. There have been seven Reds pitchers on the day, Nelson by far the most less-than-good.

First batter retired.

Joe also said that Cruz led the NL in pinch hits and Marty said no, he led the Reds.

Joe was right. Jacob led the league with 20 pinch hits, Lenny Harris and our own Quinten McCracken were second with 19.

membengal

Second batter retired, then a hit of some sort. Two outs, man on.

membengal
03-05-2006, 03:12 PM
Base hit, runner on second scores, Ray trying to take second on the throw home thrown out at second.

I believe it to be 7-1 heading to the bottom of the 8th.

Heath, at some point we have to move on. Here's hoping that Krivsky understands that EE has to play. I am betting he does.

Double by Rhodes, then singles by Herr (Hurd?) and McCracken, gets one in. Two on, no outs, 7-2 TB in the bottom of the ninth.

membengal
03-05-2006, 03:37 PM
LaRue singles, runners at 1st and 2nd, another runner home, still no one out.

7-3, bottom of the ninth.

Nice to see Womack getting on Marty's incredulous side. If he makes the trip north, it should be a long and enjoyable season.

Larue 2 RBI single - Reds coming back 7-3 with a couple guys on.

membengal
03-05-2006, 03:41 PM
Pitching change for Rays, Miguel Perez up, three balls no strikes. The handful of fans who stuck around are coming out of their afternoon siesta.

membengal
03-05-2006, 03:41 PM
Perez walks, bases loaded Denorfia up, still 7-3 TB. No outs.

membengal
03-05-2006, 03:42 PM
Denorfia hits a sac fly, run scores, runner on second goes to third. 7-4. 1 out, runners on first and third.

Andy Abad up.

Reds1
03-05-2006, 03:44 PM
Demprfia does what Dunn can't and gets an RBI sac fly. LOL..

7-4 with runners at 1st and 3rd and 1 out. Where's EE!

membengal
03-05-2006, 03:44 PM
Passed ball, run scores, runner to second, now 7-5. 2-2 count on Abad. Still one out.

membengal
03-05-2006, 03:45 PM
Abad pops up. Two outs. Some guy named Earl Snyder up for the Reds.

Uh...excuse me.....uh.....just a minute.....oh, you just now think maybe something isn't right? :D :D :D :D

Just kidding.:D :D :D :D :D

Anyway......does anybody know why there are so many pure scrubs in these games? Is it the WBC? Or are the Reds just this bad?

Would a guy like Bubba even be at the spring training camp of any other franchise?

I think early on with SS games they just need the bodies and they at least want to get 1 or 2 outings just to make sure. That's my guess anyways.
