The Replacement Player lacks veteran savvy and an understanding of how the game should be played.

I hope people don't get caught up in the virtual stampede to get Tony Womack for their 2nd baseman for their HACKING MASS teams.

I didn't feel like this deserved its own thread, but the stat-minded folks at Replacement Level Yankee Weblog have put together predictions based on Diamond Mind Baseball, PECOTA and ZiPS. It's very interesting, even the parts I don't totally understand. The Reds are dead last in every category:

He makes a note at the end that he didn't account for the recent trade, and that "Brandon" should add 2-3 wins for the Reds (but thinks it's "a good pickup for [Cincinnati] after all.") I'll bring the champagne.

Good God. Dan Uggla, a Rule V pick this year, is over 11 points higher than Womack.
That is truly an accurate measure of how TOTALLY AWFUL Tony Womack is.

Dear Mr. Krivsky:
This is your first no-brainer as GM of the Reds. Tony Womack is terrible, and it doesn't require a degree in statistics to see that. Should you give/allow Narron to give the starting 2B job to Mr. Womack, many fans will lose a great deal of confidence in you. Please do not disappoint.
Sincerely,
A concerned Reds fan.

A question to add to this discussion: for sake of comparison, who else projects this low (MLB) ?
