Hey all, I started one of these last year so I figured I'd do it again. As of now it's lookin like a good day to be at the ballyard.

Partly cloudy
High of 57
20% chance of precip.

Not bad, although it's ten days off. Could change a hundred times, although last year it continually changed for the better!

It's almost here gang! :beerme:

Just 9 more days!!

I don't care what the temperature is (within reason of course) just as long as there's nothing falling from the sky.

Oh, you mean at the ball park?

I took the day off, and will be at a local sports bar by noon (CST) waiting for first pitch.

Good for you, Sandy! You have no idea how glad I am to hear that you're taking a day off to have some fun.

I just did a model run for the weather and just so you know, anything in 7-10 day and beyond is more of a general forecast. From what I see there could be a rain event on Sunday that could turn into some snow/mix event on Sunday night into Monday morning. The high temperature appears to be in the 30-40s range..

It's changed already in one day, it'll change again.

Good update for today: Weather.com has upped the temperature to 65 degrees and lowered the chance of rain percentage from 60% to 40%.

The reason for that is because the models are having a hard time picking up on going-to-be developing low pressure system. Though things have changed and it appears the cold air is going to stay in Canada (no snow), I would wait until at least midweek before I got my hopes too far up or down. The reason for the decrease is because the Weather Channel is thinking that the low pressure system (which won't develop for a few more days) is going to slow down pushing back the rain from Monday. My advice (and I have no affiliation with him or Channel 19) is to watch Rich Apuzzo on Channel 19 at 10:30 pm if your from Cincinnati because he is the only one who knows what he is talking about. He'll tell you more then the Weather Channel will and he is usually right on the money.

Oh no. I take the day off work, travel to cincy, and watch the game get rained out. That would make me good and sick. My one saving grace is that the president is going to be there, so I doubt they call it off.

You're worrying too much. They're just talking hit or miss showers, nothing set in stone. It's still 5 days away. It very well could not rain a drop all day.

It sounds like it's going to be warm though, which is definetly a plus.

Don't worry.

Do you gentleman think there is anyway they cancel the game on us? I doubt it. Forecasts this far out are still questionable. Most places still have 30 to 40% chance of rain. Could be a delay but so far it doesn't look like a total rainout.

A warm wind will be nice. Last year on Opening Day it was around the same temperature....mid 60's and if you were there and in sitting in the sun, you'll know what I mean when I say we BAKED. My arms and neck and face were completely sunburnt.

It was HOT in the sun so a nice warm wind will be nice.

Like to see the chance of rain percentage go down as well. Should be a nice day!!

Okay, you guys need to look at the real authority, the National Weather Service. According to them, http://img234.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tsra609sw.jpg they say "Monday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Cloudy, with a high near 65. Chance of precipitation is 60%." My prediction is that the rain will be insignificant. It will happen, but there won't be much of it. The bad thing is, there will probably be thunder associated with it with winds rising to about 18 mph. So look for the ball to do some funky things on Monday. Here's hoping that the rain gets moved out of the forecast

The model I trust most (GFS Model) for this type of cold front which will be passing through shows most of the rain coming in late Sunday night and lasting until around Noon on Monday. These cold fronts can speed up or lag by a few hours behind what the models paint though, so the Opening Day forecast will need more monitoring. A few more runs of consistency for the timing of the system from that particular model and I will begin to trust it even more than I do with this particular system right now.

The models since last week have consistently shown the development of low pressure, it will move north of the Cincinnati area putting us in the warm sector of the storm. Good news for warm weather but there will be a possibility of storms because of the warm and unstable air. This is something the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma is watching this area for the development of severe weather for Sunday/Monday in their 4-8 outlook. It is a new product they are trying out but it predicted the storms that are happening today in Kansas/Nebraska/Oklahoma today and the storms that will be moving in Cincinnati tomorrow. It shouldn't be raining all day and all current indications are that won't change.

Edit- The National Weather Service is much better in my opinion then the The Weather Channel, thank you for pointing that out. The Weather Channel does a 10 day forecast and the NWS only does a 7 day forecast.

Here is another shortcut to the full National Weather Service forecast for the next week in Cincinnati. They usually update this about 4 or 5 times a day. I wouldn't worry too much about the 60% chance of storms. This forecast has changed several times in the last day. When we get closer to Monday they should have a better idea about the possibilty of rain.

Fantastic update....and it's no April Fool's joke!!!

Weather.com is now saying mostly cloudy and windy with little to no chance of rain!

With a high in the low 60's, if it's cloudy and windy it'll be chilly but as long as there's nothing falling from the sky I'll be a happy guy!

Rain is back in the forecast for today. Here is the national weather service forecast:

A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely after 9am. Increasing clouds, with a high near 58. Breezy, with a south wind 10 to 13 mph becoming west between 19 and 22 mph. Winds could gust as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

The Weather Channel is also calling for a 50 % chance of thunderstorms during the game.

Reds1

the weather.com had 30% chance of rain at the beginning and each hour goes us 40%, 50%, etc. Doesn't look like terrible, but I hope it stays away most. I don't want a game like the WS last night. We're headed out.
