Jim Bowden was visiting a Wilson's in suburban Maryland and missed the wire, apparently.

I cannot believe that I am sitting here, in 2011, watching Dane Sardinha batting for the Philadelphia Phillies. And, of course, he grounds out.

Well, I'm glad we aren't playing them. He'd jack one again.

Shows you how shallow the talent pool is at that position. The Reds are in good shape with Hanigan/Hernandez with the big club, two very good prospects in the minors ... and Corky, just in case.

Sardinha and Espinosa both made their MLB debuts for another team. Espinosa plays 2nd for the Nats. I remember when they were both given MLB contracts after the Reds drafted them in the 1st round. :help:

That's not the same Espinosa, I don't think.

Horrific draft that set the team back for years. I believe Stephen Smitherman was the only play to sniff the bigs for the Reds....and that was only a handful of games.

I really thought Bubba Nelson would turn into something. Those were dark days.

The braves usually know which ones to trade away. They rarely get the wrong end of the prospect for established guy trade.

Mosley has turned into a fine MLer.Well, he's logged some innings. I'm not sure that we missed out on anything of note. Considering that he was considered one of our top pitching prospects at some point only highlights how few crumbs were in the cupboard at the time. Would have starved a mouse.

Funny how most prospects don't pan out, yet most fans want to cling to them like a lifeline.

Funny how most prospects don't pan out, yet most fans want to cling to them like a lifeline. No one wants to trade Lou Brock for Ernie Broglio. But then, how many times do you miss Kurt Stillwell for Danny Jackson?

Except for the Mark Texeira deal, which completely blew up in their face.

How about the Drew deal?
