1998 was the year for Womack...

185 hits

26 doubles

58 stolen bases!

but he only scored 85 runs. Are you kidding me? and his OBP was only .319.

reds44
04-06-2006, 08:38 PM
So if we get out of this inning with no runs, then it gets rained out in the bottom of the 5th or after and it is tied, then the game ends in a tie correct?

BuckeyeRedleg
04-06-2006, 08:39 PM
Good point about Dunn not getting the low pitches. He needs to hike his pants up to his knees so the umps have a point of reference.

He might sacrifice a little vanity, but maybe they'll stop calling the below-the-knees strike.

Rich Aurilia is the best defensive 3rd baseman... EVER.

Dunner44
04-06-2006, 08:42 PM
The umpires have no idea where dunn's strike zone is, which sometimes leads to him getting behind in the count. Dunn is a very patient hitter and has a good eye, and knows his strike zone. Whne the umps slip up like that it has to be frustrating, and he and the pitcher know he's gotta swing at crap below his knees after that, which leads to poor outings for dunn.

We need a quick run, and let it rain.

It might be why Narron bunted with Lopez, playing for 1 run in case it rains.

After all, Narron doesn't usually bunt in that situation.

But I hate the bunt there.

that was a good call by narron. miley woudl have used abad b/c he's the PH.

I think that Edwin was the right call because the Pirates had a lefty warming up in the pen. If Abad goes up to hit, then Tracy brings in the lefty, and Abad either has to hit against the lefty or Narron has to use another bat. Instead, Narron decides that he would rather have Edwin face the righty.

White (knock on wood) has been doing well. Good control, peppering the outside of the plate, and inducing a lot of groundouts. Except now hes proving me wrong with some crap balls on Randa. But another ground out. 4 ground outs, 1 K, 0 flyouts... huge IMHO

04-06-2006, 09:40 PM
Dear Jerry.
Pinch hitting for the pitcher in the fifth is never a good idea (unless he's getting shelled anyway). The best that could happen is that the pinch hitter hits a grand slam, but that only gives the Reds a four run lead with the other team having four at bats left against those guys who come in from the outfiled fence and give up runs. The odds aren't in our favor. Thanks
