Here's something to stir up some commotion...from a Twins blog. I only pasted the Reds part, but the link is www.twinkietown.com. I'd rather see RA involved, but we shall see if this holds any water:

Perhaps Ryan is working on a trade that is just taking longer to consummate than he would like. Here's a wildly optimistic guess:

Nick Punto, Michael Cuddyer, and Scott Baker to the Reds for a package that includes Edwin Encarnacion.

That would solve all the problems at once. Gardy could call up Sierra, Reyes, and Bartlett, get rid of Batista, and move Liriano into the rotation. The only thing to do is to try to stretch out Liriano before the trade, so he can at least go five innings when he moves into the rotation.

You can just tell how loose that dugout is with guys like Dunn. Definitely a guy to build the future of this team around (with Lopez and EE of course).

I would love to see him work a little at 1B this season (once Aurilia is dealt)and eventually (hopefully next year) take over there.

I think that Dunn knows that his future lies at 1B. All VLOFs (Very Large Outfielders) eventually make the move to 1B (or DH, if they are in the AL). Take a look at history. Frank Howard, Willie McCovey, Willie Stargell, Rusty Staub, Dave Winfield, Dave Kingman, Dave Parker--they all eventually moved to 1B (or DH). I think that the 26-year-old Dunn simply wants to put off the pilgrimage until he is in his 30's.

Harang does have the strikeout pitch working today. For some reason he's struggled with the bottom of the Pirates lineup (Sanchez, Castillo). With an 8-3 lead he should be alright and hopefully we won't have to see much of the bullpen. 1-2-3 inning. That's more like it.

I wouldn't say Phillips is near EE..he might rebound but right now we got him dirt cheap and there is a reason for that.

I get that...we bought low

EE has "potential" and the twins may buy into that potential the way the BoSox have bought into WilyMo's...just sayin...or better yet, maybe they will buy into the potential of EE the way the Reds did WilyMo.

Baker pitches today. If anything was concrete, he wouldn't be pitching for the Twins. I believe there is something in the works because the Reds have five middle infielders and three catchers. Somebody has to be traded or released by Sunday if Phillips is activated and Monday when LaRue comes back. I'd love to see Baker come to the Reds, but I'm guessing there is something in the works that is further along in its development that would not have Baker starting for the Twins today. Perhaps he will be pulled at the last minute.

I read this AM that Harang is still not over whatever that bug is that he has, though he feels much better than he did OD.

That said, he certainly could be pitching a whole lot worse today. He's close to 100 pitches now though; the BP will probably come in for the 7th.... then it will get dicey.

OK then, go with Belisle. But if the Reds make a pitching change, then make a double switch, with the pitcher batting 4th, and Hatteberg playing 1B and batting 9th. That way they might be able to get more than one inning out of the reliever if he is effective.
