I hope the bullpen doesn't end up getting him charged with 5 ER, because he deserves better today. He battled well, even though he is still getting over the flu and wasn't entirely on top of his game.

Would have been nice, that's twice that questionable D and a shaky bullpen have inflated his numbers this week. Really irritating. 10 Ks to 0 BBs. His line should have been a whole lot better...

Why does Narron refuse to use Belisle?
Too young. If you ain't eligible for pension, you ain't pitching out of the pen.

Harang needed those extra 13 pitches like he needed a hole in his head. Idiotic move by Narron.

For all the problems I have with the Reds, there is none as frustrating to me as the bullpen. It's absolutely horrible to have to hang onto the edge of your seat through five-ish innings, breathe a sigh of relief if it happens to go away, and then get the wind completely knocked out of you when the relief comes up.

Hell, if your name is not Cal, yes, everyone needs a spell now and then. But, he should be a "regular" and not a "fill-in". There should be no more discussion about who the "starters" are:

Jr
Dunn
FeLo
EdE

Freel

The above 6 should be playing 5 games a week, minimum.

I think having Adam Dunn would help that stat. The games I've seen the past few years feature the Reds falling for soft tossers breaking pitches low in the zone and turning Kirk Rueter types into Cy Young. This year has been inspiring however.

Griffey couldn't get to a flyball that 90% other centerfielders get to. I love Griff, but man his range is completely gone.
yep.......his range is pretty small

But I have to say, late in a game with a decent sized lead I rather see a ball drop in than have Griffey pull up lame.

Agreed. That's why Chris Denorfia should have been out there after the 7th inning.

Sanchez hit a flyout that Griffey should have gotten to, but he couldn't get his legs going. Deno would have had it easily.

That is the difference between Belisle and the rest of the mob squad. He can get the bad hitting team to cave in on itself, while the others wallow in their own beer. Now he just needs to get into mid-season form.

M2

The political battle of getting Griffey out of center is going to be Krivsky's biggest battle. He can't play it anymore. If anything, maybe best for Griff's career, would be to return to the AL as a DH. If Joey Votto turns it on in AA this year, we will have to move somebody. Votto's also the type of bat I crave.

The old guys continue to make fools of themselves......

Yes. Coming into the game, he had allowed 4 earned runs and had not retired a batter. After get the first out of this inning, he currently has allowed 4 ER in 1/3 IP, or equivalently, 12 ER per IP. Multiply 12 * 9, and you get an ERA of 108.00.
