Chattanooga is playing the suspended game from last night. Joey Votto just belted his second HR of the game, a two run shot. Votto is 3-for-4 with a double and two dingers in the game. Game two will start 30 minutes after this game.
Votto now has 3 homeruns in 13 atbats this year. Could he be on the verge of breaking out like Dunn did in 2001?

Saw Zach Wards performance. Give credit to the coachs, they never budged off the bench and let the kid work his way thru. He didnt seem to be throwing very hard but he kept the batters off balanced with what looked like a changeup and he kept the ball down all game. He got into trouble once loaded the bases with 2 outs and got out of it. He's a legit prospect, reminds me of Glavine.

Also on Bruce the ball jumps off his bat and there was a ball hit to Bruce with runners moving and the breaks were applied because of this kid's arm, he throws it as well as Kearns. Diamondbacks farm team didnt want to test the kids arm. Ward also picked off a runner on first.

Ward supposedly throws in the mid-90's and even apparently touched 97 a couple times while pitching in college. I'm guessing his lack of velocity yesterday was due to a combination of cold weather and it being his first start of the year? Still, very encouraging to see him throw six shutout innings without his best stuff.
