View Full Version : The wisdom of Dusty Baker

from the Chicago Tribune:

"It's going to be a dogfight," manager Dusty Baker said. "It's going to be fun. That's what baseball is all about. Not only the Cardinals, but Milwaukee is playing good, Cincinnati, Houston. And Pittsburgh is not going to lose forever."

translation: Take heart, Pittsburgh! All the other teams may have good baseball going for them in some way, but YOU, you have odds on your side to one day maybe be good again!

No offense to the brilliance that is the Dusty but its "well" not "good".

I loathe the misuse of "good".

I loathe the misuse of "good".

On a side note... nothing worse than a wife or girlfriend saying "GOOD" all by itself. When this happens, the true definition of "good" is the furthest thing from what she really means. And you, the man, are probably in some trouble or in need of explaining yourself to the lady. Sometimes she will accompany the single word "GOOD" with a stomp of one of the feet... and this really means you are in trouble.

This applies to the word "FINE" as well. Total misuse of two good (or fine) words!
