I see Milton is back in his typical Reds form. I come back home and I hear Marty comment on the Reds scoring 6 runs. I figured Reds are on the way to a win, I see the scoreboard ... 12 runs given up. This is just ridiculous. Averaging over 6 runs a game, we shouldn't be barely over .500

Beat the fish like the AAA team they are. Come back and let them pretty much return the favor. It would be real nice to put a couple of back to back wins together where we crush them.

He did indeed. He also posed when he hit it, than did that arrogant bat flip thing while sauntering to first.

He's the best in baseball, but he's a showoffy sum*****. Surprised someone has not put one in his earhole at this point. Oliver Perez may want to consider that in Pujols' next at-bat...

I just saw this on BBTN. Pujols actually tossed the bat all the way over near the dugout! I can't believe the Pirates didn't stick one in his earhole after that. Classless to do something like that. Even Cards fans are getting fed up with it:

Posted by daniducci on the Cards board:

I did not like Pujols' bat flip at all after that homerun. He's been a bit exaggerated in his bat flip recently, but this was overboard. He appeared to be showing up the pitcher. I'd dust him the next time up. He earned some chin music with that one.

Plucked Burns off waivers, signed Hammond, whoopity do. The only one who knew less about baseball is the one who hired him over Krivsky in the first place. You can do both. You just have to build year-round, not sit on your hands, like most GMs.

There's no reason whatsoever that the Reds can't seriously compete as early as next season--not with the Reds' payroll scale, and moveable commodities.

It won't be easy, but it absolutely can be done.

I really don't think it would. The Reds could easily absorb the loss of Kearns or Lopez (though probably not both).

Look at Houston--10-4 record with only one consistent bopper in their lineup.

I'm not worried about the offense largely because the hitting philosophy of this team is so sound that they could still be a top 5 hitting team with just the nucleus of Dunn/EE/Lopez or Kearns/whatever they get from Griff.

The Reds have spent the last decade playing around on the razor's edge with their pitching. It's time they stopped doing that, and instead do it with their offense some.

What? His homer today? Did he not have a single later in the game?

these people I speak of are, of course, quite insane.

Grrrr I would hate to see thatas long as Boras remains his agent he is gone and since most of his clients don't sign and test free agency it lessens his value the longer you hold on to him.

Speaking of Edwin here are his updated stats:

.267 avg, .377 OBP 2 hrs, 10 RBIs, .511 slug, 9 runs, 5 doubles.

Kid has been impressive as of late.

These are people that are upset that Joe Randa isn't starting at third for the Reds anymore.

I'm still pissed that Chris Sabo took over for Buddy Bell in '88.

But, you know, Sabo ain't no Randa.

Raisor - get back away from the darkside. :starwars:

Clearly he's not ready to play in the majors. He's only going to drive in 116 runs at this pace.

Boo he sucks. Just ask Marty who said he was "struggling". He said that tonight, btw.

Haven't read the whole game thread, but I saw most of the game. This was a game where we got the internal stadium video (including the kiss cam) with the Reds radio. Since I only subscribe to TV games, I haven't heard Marty before tonight this year.

The thing that struck me tonight was how positively Marty spoke of Dontrelle Willis vs. anyone on the Reds roster. Marty sounded like he was ready to adopt Dontrelle. I can't recall a noticeably positive comment he made about a Red tonight.

It's no wonder you local people complain about Marty. He's like Patty and Selma on the Simpsons. He sucks the joy out of everything! Or at least everything clad in red white and black. ;)

I think I would give Lopez a day off tomorrow against Willis. He is struggling, especially from the right side, and a day of rest might help him. Move Phillips to SS, Freel to 2B, and start McCracken in CF.

Freel 2b
Encarnacion 3b
Dunn lf
Kearns rf
Aurilia 1b
LaRue c
Phillips ss
McCracken cf
Harang p

Count me as one who never complains about Marty. He's been calling games since before I was born, and I think he has earned the privilege to say whatever he wants. Hes a fabulous man, and obviously one of the best baseball broadcasters in the history of the game.

No doubt. And that .888 OPS isn't .900. Someone get him out of here before he finishes killing the season...

Dude stop going over there, you come back smelling like them and we're wasteing a lot of money on candles! ;)

The beauty of DanO's work is that he not only put together a historically bad bullpen in '05, but he sat on his hands and did absolutely nothing to shore things up when he still had a job for '06. Plucked Burns off waivers, signed Hammond, whoopity do. The only one who knew less about baseball is the one who hired him over Krivsky in the first place. Carl Lindner and Dan O'Brien, the gift that keeps on giving.

The historically bad bullpen was 2004, the historically bad starting staff was 2005(2004 wasn't far behind). Just to make things historically clear. ;)
