The Brewers radio Crew (Uecker and whoever calls it with Bob) are saying that Williams is getting a noticably different strike zone than Ohka, and supposedly that's why he's leaving balls up in the zone.

Anyone else think Williams was getting squeezed too?

This guy Williams is being absolutely tatooed out there. The only good thing is that the hits are smacked so hard that the runners can't advance too many bases. This is as close to batting practice as I've seen.

If he really is a good pitcher who just needs his "timing" or "mechanics" or something, let him practice in the minor leagues.

If one wonders if Casey would have been traded had O'Brien been fired after last season, take note. New owner Bob Castellini signed off on the trade, but insiders say he was told by O'Brien and some of his baseball people that the Reds were getting a No. 1 pitcher in Williams.

When O'Brien was GM, he didn't include veteran Reds scouts and advisers Gene Bennett and Larry Barton Jr. in baseball decisions. They weren't asked, but they didn't agree with the Casey trade. Both are now in tight with new GM Wayne Krivsky, who recognizes baseball knowledge when he sees and hears it.

Actually, while cleverly related to the situation, "Mutual Assured Destruction" does not really apply to this situation.

MAD works because if one country fires nukes, it knows the other country will fire them back - their missles pass in the air - and everyone dies.

If you take the theory of MAD, replacing nukes with runs scored in the model and add in a healthy dose of Reds pitching, you have genocide.

But back to the topic at hand....Dave Williams sucks.

That would be the outcome, yes.

In this bizarro world full of baseball masochism, Narron would know that if he sent out Milton, whomever would be the mgr of Lima Time would counter thusly, and baseball and life as we knew it would be over.

Of course, we must assume that, although Narron abuses us with the likes of Milton and Williams, he would not put them out there if it actually meant people would die.
