My Astros invade Cinci today, as we all know. The Reds have to face the best starters the Astros have to offer at the moment. Oswalt, Pettitte and Buchholz.

If the Reds win the series I would have to say people will need to take your team very serious.

Goodluck and here is hoping we see some great baseball.

Indeed they will, and they will also have to deal with the spike in emergency room visits in Cincinnati as its residents are sent into shock.

Yeah, so how's everybody feeling?

edit: fopr my part, I spent the whole afternnon drinking beer in the rain at Wrigley while keeping my eye on the scoreboard to watch the Reds win and the yanekees score in every single inning. I'm feeling pretty freaking good myself for the record.

Sorry to be a party-pooper ... after two home wins vs. the Astros, let's not forget this:

2005 vs. Astros
Home: 3-4
Road: 1-8

2004 vs. Astros
Home: 5-5
Road: 1-6

Okay... change is good. This is 2006 and it is time for change. And tell that to the Cards too! :p:

I am here. Nice 1st 2 games from the Reds. I think, like I said, the Reds have to be taken serious. If the starting pitching holds up, this Reds team can be a factor.

Outstanding job of pitching this weekend by the Reds starters and bullpen.

I am going to try and be a more gentle poster than I have been in the past. I aint making any friends the old way. I dont mind the good natured ribbing. There is no need for the threads to fall apart just because I post in them. Thats what has been happening. Sorry about that.

Matty... I dont know what I was thinking. The Cardinals are the greatest team ever. No one will beat them. ;) That Nationals pitching staff is off the chart good and it takes a great offensive team to score 2 runs off them.

I think Matty has already stated he thinks the Reds are for real. HOWEVER, I dont think he feels that any team is in the Cards class. The Reds are for real when it comes to the Astros, Brewers or Cubs, but not the Cards.

To Matty, there are the Cards and then everyone else. He should feel that way.

I will say this... If the Reds take 2 or get a split the rest of the NL better take notice. Maybe the Reds pitching is going to hold up in 2006. Still a long way to go, but its looking good for the Reds so far.

GO REDS.

We dont. Its just how both address their allegiences relative to this forum. I think MattyMo went about it the right way and AstroBuddy went the other way and felt that it wasnt helping him make any good natured friends here.

I appreciate Astrobuddy's post above that he lamented his previous actions and wants to change it to be a positive member on RedsZone. I gave him some greenies for it (reputation).

Dayyyum AB...you nailed it.

Anyways, I really wish it was more than a two game series. In order to win a two game series... you need to sweep it, and that is always tough to do. My take is that if the Cards can win tonight with Mulder, then they win the series. Ponson has pitched well all year, and he's facing Dave Williams. Mulder is good, but so is Arroyo. I think Arroyo will have a better game than he did the last time he faced the Cards. I'm hoping for a sweep, but I'm predicting the Reds win a close one tonight, and the Cardinals win tomorrow. Of course I'm a homer, but I'll admit if I think another team is better than mine. I just thought the Astros were all smoke and mirriors with thier 1st place team, and they haven't done anything to prove me wrong yet.

With Williams, its a gimme to the Cards and thats unfortunate for this Reds fan.
