For the good of the team, perhaps we should kidnap our own pitcher.

Sort of a Cincinnati Reds' version of Celtic Pride.

Here's the cool thing. In recent years if the Reds took a 2-1 lead in the fifth, it would barely register with me. I'd figure that was just a spit in the ocean in terms of what kind of scoring the team would need that night.

Now, I don't expect 2-1 to hold up tonight either, but with Arroyo on the mound and the defense playing better these days I am thinking that was potentially a very important run.

Caveat Emperor
05-01-2006, 08:25 PM
Maybe Arroyo will get that strike call on Pujols later...

Pujols will just glare at the umpire, daring him to call it a strike. Then when he does, Pujols will launch into a tirade: "Never in my thir - I mean twenty....how old am I saying I am again?"

about Phillips - I was at the game yesterday and his 9th inning AB showed me he is for real. His refusal to bite on the Lidge slider(that he K'd everyone else on) down and out of the zone told me he understood the situation(Lidge was not going to give in with a base open) and was able to recognize the pitch and lay off of it.

And you really have to see Lidge in person to appreciate his velocity and his slider

I haven't heard heard of any. I think it's a lot tougher to decide to be a no show at work when your paycheck is at least 4 figures for those three hours of work.

Here in Vegas, Zaba's (the little brother of Chipotle) was closed and there were thousands marching downtown. Hey - it was thousands fewer that I had to deal with behind the wheel.

Nice message by the way: Let me into your country whether I follow the requirements or not because my hard work will enrich your economy. See how hard I am working today?

Lopez may have come close to lining out (it wasn;t that close), but you can't suggest that a pitcher has done his job when he gives up an absolute rope with the bases loaded.

If he had gotten out of it with the line drive out, it would simply have been luck.
