Are there any good Kentucky message boards out there? I think i've had it reading scout.com's.

The Cats Domain was pretty good at one time, but it seemed like you couldn't carry on a discussion about Tubby Smith without someone praising him.

CatsPause is good if you don't mind having your post edited and deleted for not thinking Tubby Smith is the greatest coach to ever live. That's what I hear, at least.

That seems like every UK message board i've been to.

Try dynastydefenders.com or wildcatinsiders.com - both of these sites get accused of having an unfair "anti-Tubby" slant, but they have their share of pro-Tubby propagandists as well. Some recruiting insiders frequent these boards, which give them credibility. Both of these sites had Tyler Smith going to Iowa before CatsPause or the scout UK site, when they still thought UK was the "leader" for him.

DD (Dynasty Defenders) is a real joke. They have this jester named ruppsrunt. He goes by RR. It's hilarious how RR, Fiddling and some others are trying so dang hard to fuel the Tubby-Hater movement. Pretty pathetic, and in my opinion, dispels any notion that posters at that site are 'UK fans'.

Ummm... if only negative (or positive) views of Tubby are permissible, that's not exactly a "discussion." :p: Now, I understand that you don't want the site itself to enforce an official viewpoint, but otherwise, neither the Tubby-haters or Tubby fans should expect their opinions to go unchallenged.

Try www.wildcatfaithful.com

and/or

www.wildcatnation.net

I'm a member (BloodyBlue) and enjoy both of them.

At one time, www.thecatsdomain.com wasn't bad, but lost a lot of members to the other sites. Didn't know about the others that are listed above, so thanks!

I don't read Rivals.com, but most Kentucky boards I have read(outside of firetubbysmith.com), you would be ran out on a rail if you ever said anything negative about His Tubbiness, even if you provided stats to back it up.

I think Blimpie put it best by using the call in show. The commonwealth of Kentucky is very divided in basketball. People out in Lexington for the most part like Tubby, but the farther away you get from Lexington out into the rural areas, the people there are the ones crying for change. Is race a factor? Probably. But even then, Kentucky fans can't stand losing, whether its being blown out by Kansas, Florida, Indiana, etc. or losing McDonalds All Americans to North Carolina or wherever.

That's fine, and I know the phenomena of which you speak, but your initial post made it sound like the reverse, that a "good message board" was one where people who liked Tubby weren't welcome. Sorry about that.

I don't know that it's fair to say race is a factor. I am not singling you out for this, WVRed, but I've heard that so much from people who are astonished someone would want Tubby out as coach. Many of the same people I know who don't like Tubby Smith love Marvin Lewis as coach of the Bengals. I know Kentucky is historically different but of course I can imagine what the talking heads would say if Tubby was ousted or even resigned on his own free will, what with the whole Glory Road movie out last year and revitalizing some anti-UK venom. I think race is such a stereotype for people who just think Tubby has brought the program down over the years. And, as someone who thinks Tubby's not a good coach for UK, Lorenzo Romar and Mike Anderson are two coaches on the rise that I would take a good look at, if they didn't get a home run hire (such as the natural choice of Billy Donovan or John Calipari or someone like that).

I guess the best way to put it is, im looking for a place where conflicting viewpoints can get along. Most of the message boards carry a slant toward either being for Tubby or against him, and im looking for a board that carries a balance.

I would definitely consider Romar, but I think he is at a greater advantage due to drawing from the Pacific northwest. He basically landed Spencer Hawes(top center prospect after Greg Oden) and Martell Webster(before he went pro) in his own back yard.

To me, Anderson is unproven, although I think Missouri will show whether or not he is up for the big time. You could make the same argument with Calipari, but Calipari has always been a strong recruiter. IMO, Anderson is a better coach than Calipari, but Calipari is a better recruiter.
