boy, if Phillips can adjust to the NL's adjustment to him, he will be a standout infielder in this league. He can drop the bathead and pull it through the zone with unreal quickness.

If you want Coffey to pitch 2 innings (which is your best bet to win this game) you need to double swith.

I'm really scared that Narron is going to destroy Coffey and/or Weathers. If Cincy has a lead, these are the only 2 RPs allowed to pitch. It is starting to get scary. Wayne absolutely needs to get another arm in here before Coffey has more innings than DWill.

In other news, Ray Ray makes the board eat their words.

PuffyPig
05-10-2006, 09:36 PM
Not necessarily, you can let a pitcher hit, especially considering Olmedo's bat.

Your choice: Coffey out of the game or no insurance run.

Narron's choice: Priceless. Coffey and the run.

It gives up home runs, but nothing else. It's a bad park for doubles.

Plus the Reds pitching and great sluggers make the HR figure look outrageous.

I'm catching up here...out of curiosity, can anybody tell me where to find splits on homers by Reds in GABP and by other teams?

Observations:

1. Coffey blows me away, but it bears repeating for the sixty eleventh time that this bullpen is comical.

2. If we end up losing this one, it's going to be a super painful one.

If Coffey's going to be the set-up man, then let him finish the job. Don't pull him with the 3rd out coming up... at least not when he's pitching like he did tonight.

Probably Narron wants to keep Coffey's stints as short as possible to avoid overworking him too much. So he is inclined to bring in the lefty rather than push Todd too much.

I agree that the Reds need another Coffey type, a guy who can go two innings in close games. This is more important than having three lefties in the pen (or having three catchers). Another good set up man would give Coffey more rest and really help the team.
