Reds Fanatic

Freel grounds out to 1st. 2 outs.

Patrick Bateman
05-12-2006, 08:31 PM
Eh, still getting the runner closer..any single would have scored him from 3rd.

It's better than a K, but does not, in any stretch of the imagination, get the job done.

Reds Fanatic

Junior strikes out swinging. 7 K's for Hamels. 2-0 Phillies after 5.

Through 5:
Hamels 92 pitches
Ramirez 72 pitches.

flyer85
05-12-2006, 08:36 PM
That young man has a full asrenal. That pitch he got Jr with was either a cutter or slider an no one had talked about him having that pitch

Gizmo
05-12-2006, 08:36 PM
That change is nasty.........

The change is nasty, but he's overthrowing half his fastballs, so they should start looking for changes over the plate and letting the fastballs go, for the most part.

REDSEER
05-12-2006, 08:38 PM
Like I said, if we ever develop a pitcher like this kid, it will be a good day to be a Reds fan. I wish Travis Wood would turn into a pitcher like Hamels, with the full arsenal including the nasty change.

Ramirez hits Burrell on the elbow.

bengalred
05-12-2006, 08:39 PM
Ramirez locates his off speed stuff much better than Claussen. Claussen just can't consistently command his off speed stuff and he gets killed on the days team can just sit on the fastball.
But he'll throw gems every once in a while too. I like Ramirez, I just don't think he's as good as Claussen right now.

Gizmo

Didn't say that. The way he's pitching tonight, it wouldn't hurt. I wouldn't pull a Dusty and do it every time out. Since it's now tied, I guess hindsight is 20/20, but I guess I was right on that one.

You got a 22 year old pitcher with 200 innings of minor league time, making his major league debut. He's been pitching in a tight pitchers dual, and you've already walked 5 guys.

Yeah, pushing him might hurt, big time.

Can't really blame Dunn on both of those miscues. Terrible bounce the first time, this time it was dead even between Dunn and Phillips on that one. And, the Lizard is awfully slow to break off the mound toward first.

With experience I think Dunn could be a good 1B. but he just gave away this lead by himself. Those are two plays that most 1B make.

Still, I think he could be a good 1B if given the chance.
