I thought this might be an interesting topic to kick around. Of course, there are hundreds of strange baseball superstitions in the game. Like Craig Biggio's filthy helmet, Sparky's jumping over the baselines, Casey's in between pitch routine, and so on. Anybody have particular superstitions/stories to share?

Turk Wendell used to chew licorice on the mound and brush his teeth in the dugout between every inning. Also, when he'd go out to pitch he'd circle the mound, crouch down behind the pitching rubber, draw three crosses in the dirt, stand up and point at his centerfielder until he'd get a nod and then he'd turn and face his catcher to begin each inning.

Not sure if it was more a routine than a superstition , but Al Hrabosky used to go behind the mond before every pitch face the outfield , say something , then slam his hands to gether before stepping on the rubber. Brad lesley did something like this but I always got a kick out of watching The Mad Hungarian.

Nomar also removes and puts on his batting gloves about 7500 times between each pitch.

Wade Boggs always ate Chicken before a game. Also he would not step on the third base line going to the field but step on it when he left. Even if he caught the third out in foul territory, he would jump over the line and then step on it coming to the dugout.
