Athletics May 16: Purchased the contract of pitcher Steve Karsay from Sacramento of the Pacific Coast League (AAA); recalled pitcher Matt Roney from Sacramento; placed pitcher Randy Keisler on the bereavement list, retroactive to May 15; optioned catcher Jeremy Brown to Sacramento.

I miss this guy could be interesting pick up:eek:

The bereavement list doesn't mean he's been released or DFA'ed.

A relative of his has died...he hasn't been released as the above post says...wasn't LaRue on that list last year

I believe it was LaRue's grandfather that died last year. Dane Sardinha came up for three days and played one of the games at Boston while LaRue was gone for the funeral.

Another one... John Riedling went on bereavement leave Aug. 3, 2004 when his father passed away.

The old "one of my relatives has just passed away" boot!

It's not a boot, it's like a 7 day DL. Not sure how long it is, but I'm pretty sure it is shorter than 15 days.

Min. of 3 days, max. of 7 days. This was instituted a few years back. Before is this policy, the team would have to play short-handed because mlb does not have a 7 day DL like the minor leagues.

John Riedling.....is this guy around anymore? He was considered a nice prospect at one time.

Reidling was considered to be a "key" part of the Reds core after the April/May period in 2004, before his arm collapsed on him(like they can do in Relievers) and he imploded that June into July.

A reliever, the fickle friend.

Jared Fernandez, the old knuckleballer, was recently DFA'd however.

I'm curious however, I'm not familiar with this Anthor fellow, he must be a real old timer.
