Coming into tonight's game...
* REDS BP with Coffey: 4.62 ERA.
* REDS BP w/out Coffey: 5.63 ERA.
>> Coffey has pitched 20.1% of the innings thrown by the REDS BP!

Can't afford to give up any more here. Todd looking shaky out there.

Take away the walk and this inning was par for the season for Todd. He has rarely given up runs but he also rarely retires the side in order when he starts an inning.

23.2 IP, 21 H, 2 R, 8 BB, 21 K's

His pattern on average is to give up a hit to the leadoff or 2nd batter but he gets stranded on 1st or 2nd.

Mother.......I am tired of getting warnings, so I'm not going any further with the "Mother," but - if major changes do not come soon, I'm going to stop caring about this season. Guys like White and Hammond have NO business on major league rosters. If we dropped the both of them tonight, even if there were NO salary ramifications and the two of them came without a salary, the ROYALS would not pick them up.

I am soooooooooooooooooooooo tired of the SAME OLD CRAP with this franchise. This year is just like '04, '02, '99, etc....same old crap, slightly different names on the backs of the jerseys.

I am so tired of the frustration that comes with following the Reds. TIRED TIRED TIRED TIRED.

This is what I was referring to about handling a losing streak. They have talent although they are short in the pitching dept. They need to suck it up and get intense on the defense. Their small ball had been much better than last year as was most of their game. But they just have to play like there's no tomorrow if they want to play for the division title. And again, none of us thought they'd be in first place so working on building up the team is really the picture. I'm still going to go to a game this year with the family, I only hope it's one of those hot hitting/pitching games. See you there.

Raise some hell? Calm down guys, take a deep breath, and step away from the ledge. I think too many of us were suckered into believing in this team after the hot start. Most of us knew in our heads this team would struggle this season. They are not hitting, I dont really see what yelling would do about that, its not like we are LaRoching it. And Casey giving them hell? You have to be kidding me. I liked Casey, but I dont really remember him getting on anyone.

Disagree...I haven't seen any fire the past week. They wanted to make a statement by cutting Hancock in spring training? How about cutting half the bullpen right now. Hancock would be our 2nd best reliever.

The problem is that most of us are doing all we can do to believe that we haven't been sucked into another empty early season promise of respectability.

Since peeking at 19-8, they went 4-4 to 23-12 and now have lost 5 straight and we are back down to 23-17. It is obviously a team that is coming off its high and now moving back to the mean. A team that lacks any 1-2 starter. Coffey is the only "Money" arm potential we got........of all 12 pitchers.

The Reds have bad pitching and a slumping offense, it makes for losses, many more losses to come. But for this teams future, June will probably be the deciding factor as it has for every other year since 2001.

He pitched good out of the bullpen last year and should have been with the team this year. Instead he was cut and replaced by some old guys with double or triple his current ERA.

Any fire? Its May 17th and this is baseball. This is not college football, you cant just get all pumped up because you only play once a week. Not a big fan of cliches but this is not a sprint. I mean when this team was hot it was not because they were filled with fire, it was because they had every break going their way and some guys were hitting.

I am so depressed. Just looked at the Reds salaries. Turn away unless you want to cry.

Milton: $9.8 million
Williams: $1.4 million
Wilson: $3.75 million
Hammond: $800k
Mercker: $1.55 million
LaRue: $3.9 million

Roughly one-third of our total payroll. Absolutely useless right now. Not counting Jr.'s $9 million and he isn't exactly scorching the ball.

No it makes perfect sense. What do you want from this team? They are in a slump its not like they woke up a week ago and decided they just didnt give a crap anymore. I just dont know what you want them to do, more fist pumping, more hustle, I just dont understand.

Look like you care. I didn't see one ounce of emotion tonight. I would be happier if Dunn suplexed Freel on top of the dugout when he got picked off second.

Well, the pitching isn't in a slump. This is the real pitching: inconsistent to awful.

The offense will come around; that I have faith in. And I completely agree that this has nothing to do with people "not trying." That's goofy.

I do wish that Narron had punched Freel in the mouth after he got picked off and I would bench him for that. So if that is the kind of fire you want to see then I do get your point and I agree.

Why blame anyone? This team was blessed with incredible luck for a month. They aren't going to be this terrible all year, but they aren't gonna play in the world series anytime soon.

I dont think its unpopular and I think your right about Aurilia. Lot of people have said that Rich rubbed them the wrong way last year and they were bitter that he got the starting nod over Lopez, but I think most of us are over it.

Phillips is a nice defensive addition but nothing has been done to improve the bullpen. It will be interesting to see if EZ finds a role on this team(he clearly deserves one).

Our Father, Who Art In Heaven.....

Please let the Reds win another game sometime in the near future.

I'm not asking for this victory for myself but I'm really worried about many of my friends at RedsZone.

Many of them seem to be in an awful state of depression.

Please God, let the Reds win a game before any of'em hurt themselves.

Thanks a lot God, I owe Ya one. Amen.

Ron Madden...you should see the posts at cincinnati.com. I reciently gave up on the site because 9 out of 10 posts were about how the reds were horrible, how BC and KRIV aren't any different than Linder and DanO, how Narron should be shot for war crimes and how the entire team should be torn apart and rebuilt.

We should include them in your "reds prayer" also before they or someone around them is harmed.
